Castro/Russell/Baez. What do you think the Cubs do with the 3? Do they try and convert one to fill 2B for them? I wouldn't be shocked to see them move Castro. -
Haha nice so I'm not the only one eagerly waiting to see all the ranks. I want to see if my Bell cracked some top 50s. It feels like they were already out by this point last year, but maybe it's all psychological.

I'm going to struggle cutting down for this as well. The way I see it, I'm just going to hope he shows me something with a strong finish. Worst case scenario, I think I can move him for a 3rd rounder in the offseason before cuts. I'm willing to eat that potential loss for a chance at some upside.

In theory, a 10-12 seed could just rent an entire team right now and become a top juggernaut. It shouldn't be allowed.

Yeah I feel like it could turn into an enormous thing. Managers would be able to fill their holes with ease, without losing significant pieces. Imagine jaysblue falls out of the race, and someone scores Tulo for a fraction of the cost because it's just a rental? That's an impact player who could potentially be the difference between advancing in the playoffs, and being knocked out. You would also rarely see older players get moved to contenders anymore. Who's going to trade for an aging bat who's verging on retirement, when you can rent out a stud in his prime for less?

Doesn't the rental concept in the latest trade open a whole can of worms? Hypothetically, if I said to havok, "I'll give you my first round pick to let me use Heyward + Cole for the last month of the season". Not only would he profit from giving them away for a month, but it would even help his team finish lower in the standings. What's to stop every non-playoff team from doing the same if they're going to miss the playoffs anyway? Just something to think about that could lead to issues later.

So this Grilli/Frieri swap basically just gave me two closers with one trade. Melancon and Smith should both get the 9th inning for the ROS now.

It's not so much that Moss is a "great player". It's more that a late first rounder and Almonte seems like a weak return. I think Moss' floor is close to .330/.500/13 HR/40 RBI the rest of the way. That's solid production, and it's even better if you can afford to platoon him (being an extreme splits hitter). Then there's upside that maybe he really has improved his approach against lefties. At 31, he should have at least a few more productive years. It's possible that I'm underrating Almonte. I see him as a fringe top 100 prospect. If others value him more, it makes sense why there's a difference in opinions. By no means am I saying it was robbery, I was just surprised he wasn't shopped around (especially given how much Gonzalez was).

Moving forward this year, either could outperform the other. One is 3 years older though. I also would rather have Moss.

IMO it's closer than most think but I still give the edge to the Posey side because I really dislike Profar.
