Blue Jays prospects: Sleeper, bust and new legit guy
King replied to Angrioter's topic in Blue Jays Minor League Talk
I say that as someone who has been fairly high on Jansen for the past few years. I thought the power he showed in Bluefield is still in there but the injuries (hamate bone) stunned his development. If he changed his approach to hit more groundballs then woof. -
Blue Jays prospects: Sleeper, bust and new legit guy
King replied to Angrioter's topic in Blue Jays Minor League Talk
Jansen has weird peripherals. From this year to last year, he has doubled his ground ball %, cut his flyball % in half, increased his line drive % by 10% and dropped his infield fly rate by 10%. Doesn't really seem like a recipe for success. He'll probably get promoted to AA at some point and then get exposed. -

Because, he's a capable shortstop who is already in Dunedin with extended? It's not complicated.

GCL to Dunedin is an absurd jump, lol. It has to be just for an injury fill in, no?

This is crazy.

Literally every hitter in baseball is "streaky". There is no consistency on a day to day basis. -

Bichette and Vlad are sitting every 4th game so they don't get burnt out by June. -
Syndergaard could have his right arm amputated tomorrow and we would still have lost the trade.

Last year in April he hit .164 but had 7% more walks than strikeouts and a .200 ISO

We aren't getting 4-5 Vlad level prospects in one draft. Maybe 1, or maybe 2. Possibly not at all. We seem to like taking college pitchers (Zeuch and Harris) in round 1 and we have two picks in the mid 20s in this year.

Norfolk briskly defeated the Herd, 4-0, in just 92 minutes before Buffalo rebounded to win as the home team in game two, 2-1. The victory gives the Bisons an 11-5 record on the season Rain in Buffalo last week and in Norfolk on Tuesday forced the teams to schedule back-to-back doubleheaders with the first half on Wednesday night. By International League rule, the Bisons served as the home team in game two -the makeup for the game lost at Coca-Cola Field. The teams will play a second doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. Norfolk wasted little time in game one, picking up the win just over an hour and a half. The Bisons had five hits in the contest, but by only a pair of batters. Christian Lopes went 3-3 with a double but was stranded on base each time he reached. Darrell Ceciliani singled twice while the rest of the team went 0-18 at the plate, including 0-5 with runners in scoring position. The Tides opened the scoring with a Pedro Alvarez sacrifice fly in the first inning before tacking on a three-run rally in the fourth. That handed Luis Santos (0-1) the loss in his first career Triple-A start. The righty worked four innings and yielded five hits. http://i.imgur.com/wJmolnE.png http://i.imgur.com/5HlAoaJ.png http://i.imgur.com/zrIvHXg.png Buffalo rebounded to squeak out a 2-1 win in the night cap. The Bisons had the bases loaded with no outs in back-to-back innings, but scored only one run each time. Ceciliani scored first when he raced home on doubleplay ball off the bat of Rowdy Tellez in the fourth inning. Lopes drove in the eventual game-winning run in the fifth when he beat out a potential doubleplay with the sacks packed. Jarrett Grube (2-1) got the win in game two, yielding only a Henry Urruita home run in five innings of work. Jeff Beliveau got three ground outs and a pair of strikeouts to earn his first save of the season. BISONS NOTES: Christian Lopes was a combined 4-6 in the two games to raise his season average to .311...Jeff Beliveau is the sixth different Bisons pitcher to earn a save this year. (AP) -- Rashad Crawford hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, leading the Trenton Thunder to a 3-0 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday. The home run by Crawford scored Devyn Bolasky and Billy Fleming and provided all the offense for Trenton. Trenton starter Yefry Ramirez (3-0) picked up the win after allowing just three hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings. Opposing starter Francisco Rios (2-2) took the loss in the Eastern League game after giving up three runs and seven hits over five innings. Matt Wotherspoon recorded his first save of the season. The Fisher Cats were held scoreless for the third time this season, while the Thunder's staff recorded their third shutout of the year. (AP) -- Cale Coshow got Gunnar Heidt to ground out with the bases loaded to end the game, leading the Trenton Thunder to a 4-3 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday. The Thunder swept the three-game series with the win. Down 1-0 in the fifth, New Hampshire grabbed the lead when Raffy Lopez hit a two-run double. After New Hampshire tied the game 3-3 in the sixth, the Thunder went out in front in the seventh inning when Billy Fleming hit a solo home run. Travis Hissong (1-1) struck out the only batter he faced to pick up the win. Justin Shafer (0-1) went one inning, allowing one run and one hit while striking out one in the Eastern League game. Fleming homered and doubled, scoring two runs in the win. The Fisher Cats squandered some scoring chances, leaving 12 runners on base in the loss. Ryan McBroom reached base four times for the Fisher Cats. The Thunder swept both games of the doubleheader after winning the first game 3-0. (April 26, 2017) - The Stone Crabs rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Dunedin Blue Jays 4-1 Wednesday night at Charlotte Sports Park. With Dunedin (10-10) leading 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Stone Crabs (8-11) catcher David Rodriguez beat out a grounder to first for an infield single to start the inning. Jake Cronenworth then singled to left to move Rodriguez to second. After a flyout, Brett Sullivan hit a grounder to Blue Jays' second baseman Cavan Biggio. Biggio booted the ball, allowing all three runners to reach safely. With the bases loaded and one out, Kevin Padlo drew a walk against Blue Jays starter T.J. Zeuch (1-1) to force home the tying run. With the game deadlocked at one, Brandon Lowe rolled a grounder to third. Lowe beat out the throw to make the score 2-1. The ball then eluded first baseman Juan Kelly, which allowed Sullivan to score to make it a 3-1 game. With runners at the corners and one out, Ryan Boldt laid down a successful squeeze bunt, plating Padlo to make the score 4-1. Stone Crabs starting pitcher Eduar Lopez (1-2) worked six innings of one-run ball, striking out four while allowing six hits. He struck out the final two batters of his night to earn his first win at the High-A level. Brandon Lawson and Bryan Bonnell each struck out three batters in relief to finish off the win. Cronenworth extended his hitting streak to 20 games Wednesday, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. The Stone Crabs shortstop is now batting .406 through his first 17 games of 2017. He has reached base at least twice in 16 of the 20 games during the streak. The rubber game of the three-game series will take place Thursday at 6:35 p.m. LHP Genesis Cabrera (1-3, 5.63) makes the start for Charlotte against LHP Ryan Borucki of Dunedin (0-1, 6.46). Coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network. http://i.imgur.com/2UaMgvu.png http://i.imgur.com/BAMFLHY.png http://i.imgur.com/0bFETsr.png LANSING, Mich. - Zack Short reached base six times in seven plate appearances, Vimael Machin homered and drove in five runs, and the South Bend Cubs (12-8) defeated the Lansing Lugnuts (10-10), 14-9, on Wednesday afternoon at Cooley Law School Stadium. The series, pitting the top two offensive teams in the Midwest League, featured 56 total runs and 76 total hits in three games. The Cubs scored in every inning but the fourth and sixth, victimizing Lugnuts starter Denis Diaz and reliever Chris Hall (Loss, 0-1) for six runs each. South Bend starter Jose Paulino fared even worse than Diaz, allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits and four walks, including a first-inning Bo Bichette home run. The Lugnuts fought back from a second-inning 5-1 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the second inning and three more runs in the fourth, only to see the Cubs plate four in the fifth - capped off by a Machin three-run homer - give the visitors the lead for good at 10-7. Lansing added solo tallies in the fifth and the ninth against Cubs reliever Kyle Miller (W, 1-0), but Cubs rallies in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings against Hall, Griffin Glaude and Nick Hartman staved off any further Lugnuts threat. The Cubs piled up 16 hits and 10 walks and received the benefit of four Lugnuts errors, stranding 14 runners on base. Leadoff hitter Short led the way, swatting a double and a triple, drawing three walks, getting hit by a pitch and scoring four runs. Kevante Mitchell added his second home run of the season, a monstrous shot against Glaude in the eighth. For the Lugnuts, Bichette joined Joshua Palacios , J.B. Woodman and Edward Olivares with two-hit performances, Jake Thomas drew three walks, and Olivares and Christian Williams each scored a pair of runs. The Lugnuts next travel to Bowling Green, Ky., for a four-game series stretching from Thursday through Sunday. Andy Ravel (1-0, 9.72) starts the opener at 7:35 p.m. Eastern against Hot Rods left-hander Travis Ott (1-1, 4.26). The Nuts return to Lansing on Tuesday, May 2nd, opening a six-game homestand with a Dollar Deal Day: $1 hot dogs, $1 ice cream sandwiches and $1 fountain drinks! Tickets may be purchased at the Cooley Law School Stadium box office, by calling (517) 485-4500 or via lansinglugnuts.com. Ben Badler on Vlad Jr. and Bo Bichette Chris Crawford on Vlad Jr. http://herosports.com/mlb/prospect-watch-vladdy-jr-yohander-mendez-impress-c6c6 THE HITTERS Vlad Guerrero, Jr., 3B -- Lansing (A), Toronto Blue Jays WEDNESDAY: 3-for-4, R, HR, BB, SB 2017: .300/.425/.483, 2 HR, 12 BB, 11 SO In case you haven't been paying attention or live under a rock or some sort of object that doesn't get WiFI, yes, this is the son of soon to be Hall Of Famer Vlad Guerrero. He's not as talented as Daddy Vladdy, but he's pretty darn good on his own right. Both the power and hit tool have a chance to be plus for Guerrero; as he has excellent bat speed and makes hard contact to all fields. Unless the elder Guerrero, he also has an excellent approach at the plate, and has no problem getting on via walk. He's a below-average runner, but he's also shown the ability to make an impact on the bases. Defensively, Guerrero is still a work-in-progress, but he's acclimated to third well, and there's at least a chance he can stick there. Even if he moves to the outfield, Guerrero has a chance to be an All-Star. The upside here is quite palpable. 2080 baseball has posted BP videos for the Fisher Cats lineup: https://2080baseball.com/2017-video-prospect-library/ MiLB Stats through Apr. 25 2017 Hitters http://i.imgur.com/jHRbvWL.png http://i.imgur.com/Mne5INi.png http://i.imgur.com/csADQJb.png http://i.imgur.com/LUZSwLJ.png Pitchers http://i.imgur.com/uyKfsJj.png http://i.imgur.com/uAvo3M9.png http://i.imgur.com/85w9GUg.png http://i.imgur.com/ZJlCPwt.png
