I don't see the pitch count on the boxscore anyway so not sure where he got it from.

The pitch counts aren't accurate for the lowest levels of the minor leagues. Much like spring training on MLB gameday, it usually counts a strikeout as 3 pitches and a walk as 4. I think, anyway. Could be wrong.

Not getting whiffs (6.5 SwStr%) and insane HR/FB luck (1.8% before this start) will eventually catch up to you. I hope he doesn't get penciled into the rotation for next year, because there's a strong chance that he isn't very good.

The basis of his argument is that Vlad will come up and struggle like Trout which probably wont happen anyway. So many prospects these days have come up and hit the ground running - theres no real reason to believe he'll struggle.

I find pitch count stats really interesting. You really have to get ahead of Stanton or you're done for. (career) Juan Soto has a 144 wRC+ through 0-2 counts in 2018
