  1. There must be a statistical relationship for catchers ERA that could adjust WAR for catchers. I think a good catcher is invaluable.
  2. Hell no. When we got rid of Delgado there was an argument of getting 85% of the player for half the price or something like that. Other than that, Lind couldn't carry Delgado's jock.
  3. Funny enough, this is the argument that was made on replacing Delgado with Overbay
  4. 160 innings = 2x Morrow
  5. Not necessarily. A 1 inning guy has a dominant pitch, a starter needs to mix it up. I don't know if Jeffress has the ability to mix it up.
  6. I'd expect reasonable results from the two men in the rotation say 14 wins each, 16 tops. The pen should still be good enough but Happ should only be good for 7 wins and beyond that not much. Like last off season we only have two real starters.
  7. Was thinking the same. What good is a rotation with two older starters and nothing else?
  8. Amazing how fast a ninja became a toad.
  9. No Jose Canseco was the most obvious. What a meat head.
  10. Didn't Ricky have coke issues? I know a few guys did back then. Was it Tim Raines that wouldn't slide feet firstso as not to disturb his stash? Ricky slid head first didn't he? I didn't care either. Just wanted to win.
  11. It sounds plausible. Wonder what you can get for Bautista.
  12. Rajah is a decent utility player but I think some moron will pay him to start. If so the congrats to Rajai.
  13. Maybe it was. The coolest part that was huge at the time was Fielder at 2b. He technically came up the system at 3b which seemed unbelievable but the sight of him at second was something. As a fan you hoped no one would hit the ball to him, you didn't know if he could bend over to pick it up. I think he had to borrow a glove too.
  14. Major league defense is highly underrated. Who thinks they could actually catch a major league pitcher far less frame the pitch.
  15. I saw it. The game was incredible. He and Pat Borders alternated between 2b and 3b. They alternated between lefty bats and right. Pitch selection was designed to keep it away from Fielder. That was managing.
  16. During the world series years I remember people suggesting Joe Carter play 3b, saying it wasn't too hard. Toronto fans have to be the least knowledgeable.
  17. No he's right. Give him the qualifying offer. $14.1 is about right for Davis. Also maybe he could start at 2b as he has some speed. Maybe start at catcher as well and run between the positions. The OP is a visionary.
  18. What is there - about seven spots to be cleared up?
  19. I'd be okay with Sweeney and Crouse in the trade. Nothing more. What do we do with all the backups though.
  20. On that draft day there was commentary about us going for Sale. There was never any tie to Trout. So I think it's fitting.
  21. And to think we could have drafted Sale. Word was that he didn't have as much upside as the dud we selected.
  22. We seem to lack some development philosophy beyond letting them do their thing and promote them regularly. JP was not ready to catch when he first came up. Nobody can bunt.
