  1. The trade capital is building: I'd say we can offer up Berrios, Rodriguez and Santander. Can't wait to see what the next move will be. I'm hoping for a closer. A real K expert.
  2. The details of this show that the Jays will have enough cash to cover any taxes and probably Cease's whole contract. Makes a lot of sense. Good to know!
  3. John, your second and third paragraphs are key for me. I'm trying to figure if there's more cash to spend which is vital. Also trying to figure out the impact of other teams not in the bidding because of next season's contract.
  4. Thanks John, it just makes me wonder how contracts will be negotiated this season and specifically was trying to figure out if the team has extra cash to spend this one season.
  5. I'm also wondering what the impact of potential work stoppage next season will have on the contracts being discussed at this time.
  6. You know how the players got something like 30+ million bonuses for the world series appearance -- did the team also get paid? The reason I'm asking this is if there is extra cash to spend.
  7. I'm just thinking of the incremental value of a top closer over a 5th starter. I think Berrios has value.
  8. Let's not get ahead too much. Gotta see if Yesavage is real and if Bieber and Berrios is healthy enough.
  9. Will framing matter going into the pitches being reviewed by the robo-ump?
  10. It's a major f'ing statement, that's what it is. It clearly defines Toronto as a place to be. So Bo or Tucker and some moves for the bullpen.
  11. Is the next move maybe to trade Berrios for a closer?
  12. But for today, I'd just say CEASE!!!!! WOW
  13. I don't think Bo's clock has started yet for other teams. Nobody would sign him without expecting a full medical. No GM would take the chance unless it's an amazing deal and even then.
  14. I was thinking about this situation: I don't think Bo would pass a physical right now so he may have to wait.
  15. Any decent GM will be checking in on tons of players of value, some of which they may be interested in, some of which they may not. The only way to understand value is to determine where all players fit in. Value changes a great deal over time and I'm not talking a specific player but types of players. Teams used to pay a lot for high speed outfielders, not so much anymore. Just let the GM's talk and ....Let It go.
  16. Let's face it, if we go back to early spring training, nobody truly expected we would be on the edge of a game 7 WS win. We did way better than expected. Let's just add some good pitching, re-sign Bo upgrade the offense and maybe a baserunning coach and we can do it. The value of this year's experience will go a long way. That and robo umping may keep teams like the Dodgers at bay.
  17. What was the matter with my statement? I'm simply stating that we need to replace Santander who, in my opinion, has to be dumped.
  18. A nice big power bat behind Vladdy might be a real good thing. If Bo comes back and bats second then we have something. Add a starter and a stopper and we have a contender. I'm still not counting on Santander existing next season.
  19. There's only one player I really don't want to see again: Santander. When Bo is playing with that knee issue and Springer with everything else, I just find no value in Santander.
  20. Santander was the only player I was disappointed in. Bring back BIchette, add a couple of starters and a reliever or two.
  21. Personally, I'm really proud of this team. I had no expectations at the start of the season and think they did a fantastic job of it. It could just as easily have been a win. Well done!!!
  22. Here's some relative quote from Sportsnet: Bo Bichette will begin Game 2 of the World Series on the bench. The Toronto Blue Jays did not include the infielder in their starting lineup for Game 2 against the Dodgers (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, Sportsnet, Sportsnet+), but did confirm that he will be available off the bench. Manager John Schneider said on Saturday that Bichette felt “better than expected” after Game 1. “After the layoff, didn’t want to kill him, ya’ know?” Schneider added.
  23. Hopefully they expand on this a bit more and it is a form of load management. This situation is a difference maker.
  24. Ratings and commercial sales will be the deciding factor.
