    Lets be honest though. The fact that he had to take himself out of the game, held his shoulder like that + its the same area that made him go out for a month.. You'd figure the Jays would play smart and shut him down rather than drag it on like they did with Travis and Reyes earlier on.

    I have no problem flipping Tulo elsewhere, but as you mentioned he has a NTC now and any trade we would need a shortstop in return - either an MLB ready one or a top prospect. He also does not want to go to the Mets. I don't mind having Goins play SS.

    The Dickey trade was a good move because we dealt from a position of strength - pitching prospects. It hurt to give up d'Arnaud but s*** happens. Dickey had great numbers in domed parks and great numbers against the AL East teams. And age was a non-factor as we all know that knuckleballers age well. All the numbers going in looked good to justify the Dickey deal and we also gave up excess pitching. The only mistake was choosing to give up the wrong pitcher. And if I recall, it wasn't too long ago that people felt more inclined to trade away Stroman and keep Sanchez. Including me.

    My comparison is not based on the quality of the players but a comparison in that people like to make a statement on the day of the trade, and then when something goes wrong down the road, reverse that statement and say "I told you so" The Dickey trade obviously was a disaster but at the time it was a reasonable deal. And I'd do that deal again because I don't second guess. We could have an obvious no-brainer deal like the Donaldson trade and say at the time it was made that it was a good decision. But what if next year Donaldson crumbles under the turf, Graveman ends up winning 20 games and Barreto becomes the best shortstop prospect in baseball? I fully expect people here to say the Donaldson trade was terrible, AA dum, e.t.c.

    I'm pretty people were 50/50 on the trade. They weren't happy about giving up Syndergaard but they were happy getting back a Cy Young award winner. It was no where as lopsided as it is now, obviously, because people like to second guess and evaluate trades many years down the road.
