Stroman wasn't good but he wasn't terrible either. His mechanics were off caused the 2 seam to be wild and the slider to be useless most of the night. But don't forget he pitched well enough to win the game. Hard hit gbdp right at Travis should have ended the 1st with 0 runs scoring but a bad bounce off Travis' shoulder leads to 1 run and another on a groundout. Martin's passed ball on a pitch over the middle of the plate moved a guy to 2nd who scored on a slow ground ball up the middle and the next batter got out so another run that shouldn't have scored. Carrera makes a horrible read on a routine flyball that 9/10 RFs catch and the ball just falls in, in front of Carrera (let's hope he never saw it cause if that was his read it was just beyond terrible). I think that runner scored on a homerun the next batter, so he should never had scored. That's 4 runs directly related to terrible defense or a horrible hop/luck. This is a team game and the team played horrible overall.
The 3 homeruns were bad but the first was just a horrible pitch selection. When the announcers are saying before the pitch....don't throw the breaking ball and then he does, someone screwed up that call (probably was Stroman), but it could have been avoided. The other 2 homeruns were just bad pitches.
Overall, Stroman wasn't good but he pitched ok enough for us to win easily. Throw in the fact that he just took a 4 day vacation and didn't pitch during that time (most likely), I would say rust in terms of mechanics is the major problem Stroman had last night and should improve going forward.
