Says any rumours about the Jays involved in trade talks for any starter is a "complete fabrication" but that's not to say they wouldn't be open to the right deal if it came along the next week.
Does see depth in the pen and would be open minded to trading a reliever.
Expects starting pitching to be better after the break.
On Romero, the start last night was the most encouraging since he was able to go eight innings and only throw 93 pitches, needs to see that over and over again first, it's a step in the right direction. Must put "many" of those starts in a row first before he would be back in the conversation. Thinks he is in a better frame of mind now.
On Bickford, he was pretty evasive. Says it was not cut and dried, they did all their due diligence on whether or not they thought he wanted to go pro, can't divulge info, trying to protect everyone involved, it just didn't work out. Wouldn't be surprised to see him as a top pick again in a few years. Likened the situation to Beede and how that missed signing turned into Marcus Stroman, so the Jays didn't actually lose an asset. Also mentioned that Stroman is pitching well and has been talked about as a call up candidate.
No thoughts on moving Jose Bautista to 3b even though he feels Jose would do it if asked.
