  1. Really not sure why. Hoffman has minimal leverage since his injury basically prevents him from even throwing before next year's draft, so his draft position won't improve by waiting, while Pentecost isn't gong to suddenly vault into top 5 material next year either It's simple. The Jays aren't going to announce these guys bonuses until the last minute because they don't want latz's and Houck's agents to know how much money the jays have to sign their clients. If they did, they'd ask for all of it, and AA probably still wants to sign more of his picks. Hell, chances are they'll only get one of Houck or Latz.
  2. Wanna know how many full time CF have a .350 OBP? 8. 9 if you include Gose. And Even if he hits like this for his entire career, he'd be a 3 WAR cf on his defensive chops alone. That's way past fine for a 9 hole hitter
  3. One would be remiss without stating that Boyd and Cole are both old for the level,... But in the case of Cole who went on his Mormon mission for two years after being drafted and didnt throw a baseball for those two years, he's now just getting his full arm strength and velocity back. Last year and the year before he was only pitching in the mid to high 80's, this year he's getting back up into the low 90's http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140611&content_id=79084182&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb
  4. The force is strong with that one. Even I can't tell most of the time
  5. Since Boyd was sent back down to Dunedin after his early season promotion to AA, Norris, Boyd and Cole have been the pitching version of Murderers Row. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ibp&cid=424&stn=true&sid=t424
  6. Yeah, really don't think they should be pinch hitting for Tolleson here, would hurt the D. But not pinch hitting for Kratz I think is fine since you're Up by three. In a closer game, they probably do it
  7. Really not sure how they arrived at that conclusion...
  8. It's perfectly fine to criticize, as long as it's in advance, not some hindsight garbage. I agree with you in this case, I'd rather see a guy at DH who might run into one over a guy who can barely swing his bat
  9. 10.) When the beer runs out.
  10. I see this POV, and in different situations perhaps earlier in the game... Ok. But not two outs in the 9th, when you need to try to get Reyes to second before you take a hack.
  11. Why anyone would panic over a sports team is beyond me. I know you're kind of coming from a different angle, but... Either way, panicking is stupid.
  12. I'm talking about a single at bat in a game. Not the offense a whole. Nice try though. Keep digging
  13. Yeah that was odd. You have to take a pitch or two to give Reyes even a chance to take second. Melky has a great ability to contact the ball, he shouldn't be afraid to hit with two strikes. Plus, the way Britton had been throwing he'd probably have at least ball 1 or 2 rather than 0-2
  14. He just had too slow of a bat. He could cover the balls on the outer half and slash them the other way, but even average mlb fastballs on the inner half, he could do nothing with them unless he sold out his swing, and by doing that he became very vulnerable to offspeed stuff. Just couldn't make the needed adjustments.
  15. Just saw the replay on the Davis Hr, why do the Jays insist on pitching this guy away? Look at his heat maps, he kills low and away. He's weakest on the inner half. Wake the f*** up. http://www.fangraphs.com/zonegrid.aspx?playerid=9272&position=1B&ss=2008&se=2014&type=0&hand=all&count=all&blur=1&grid=10&view=bat
  16. How the hell can Dickey get hurt? He's missing all the important ligaments
  17. Yeah, which makes sense. But as yet tweak the rules in replay, at home plate if the catcher blocks it illegally, then the player should still be safe, regardless if he gets tagged first. IMO, challenging the safe/out call at home should encompass whether or not the catcher illegally blocked it. I know that's not how it is now, but it should.
  18. Just hit in. Checking the box score here, did I see right that after Bautista was hit by pitch, that Gibbons pinch hit for Lind with Navarro when it was a RHP in the game? Please tell me there was a lefty reliever that was ready for Baltimore to come in and face Lind.
