  1. My estrada article just got more ammo. I DIDN'T REALY SEE A SLIDE COMPARING HIM TO CHRIS SALE AND FELIX HERNANDEZ DID I?
  2. Just logged in. Didn't scan whole thread. And it's Lolabello..ugg.
  3. Am I crazy for waning Pompey to play RF and Jose to move to first? I know it won't happen but I'm not crazy am I?
  4. Hey, how do we take graphs from brooks baseball and paste them in the articles. Is it just the same as adding a picture? Digging into Estrada's HR rate also revealed he has the second lowest babip allowed among all qualified SP, and it's steadily gone down each year since 2012. I'm now trying to work on some sort of explanation in as well.
  5. How is Deez Nuts not on this list?
  6. I'm getting the article on estrada going... wife broke her foot so my free time is pretty limited right now as I'm pretty much at her beck and call
  7. That's up to the arbitrator but its definitely in the favour of the player. Remember if something goes to arbitration then the player just has to be able to convince the arbitrator that he's worth more than the midpoint between the number he submitted and the number the team submitted. The arbitrator doesn't actually decide a dollar value between numbers, just decides whether the players number or the teams number gets used. Like if Donaldson said he's worth 12 million, and the Jays say he's worth ... 8. Then all Donaldson would have to prove is that hes worth more than 10 and he would get 12. And yes I pulled those numbers out of thin air.
  8. "He wins ballgames" "He has the highest run support of any Jays starter so when he pitches the offense scores" Mumble mumble something incoherent "Skip him on the road where he hasn't pitched well" "Results speak for themselves" Marble mouth mumbling "Can you smell that?"
  9. My only constructive criticism would be to avoid duplicating phrases like "in summary" or starting paragraphs with "So the question is" or stuff like that. In longer articles it's okay since there's lots of space between them, but in short articles it's very noticable. Keep it varied and different to avoid becoming a crutch. And every writer out there is guilty of this. It's just natural to repeat certain phrases that we are familiar with. That's what editors are for after all!
  10. What do the Jays do with Osuna next year.. SP or RP ? Possible talking points would be the obvious, how well he's done as the closer, but also how much of a waste it would be if he could be at least a #3 SP. Buuuuut with his innings pitched issues, would he even be able to pitch as a starter next year for more than 110 innings? And if not, is it worth the trouble trying to convert him back?
  11. I think I would've gone with Hawkins, but...I agree whichever reliever he wanted to use, he should have started the innng.
  12. Now I just feel bad for the As
  13. Terrible send. FULD had the ball before Tulo even hit 3rd base and was shallow. Awful send
  14. I'm looking into it. It just looks like his HR rate is what's saving his ass this year.
  15. Idea for an article, the case for/against resigning Estrada.
  16. To,put things in perspective, Brooks ERA vs the Jays just went DOWN after that inning.
  17. This dude will never want to face the Jays again.
  18. If shields has already cleared waivers, it's difficult to see a deal getting done now. If they weren't willing to get him for just money, I find it unlikely thye would part with the kind of prospects San Diego would want if San Diego was going to pay any of his salary.
  19. His arm is really his only positive defensive attribute. He doesn't take great routes, his range is geting smaller by the month and even his arm is hurting this year after that ridiculous attempt to throw out that runner at first. I've never thought of Bautista as an overal good defender. His reputation as a plus defender has never been backed up by the eye test or defensive metrics.
  20. Explaining the differnce in how bbref calculates WAR versus fangraphs would take a while, but the short answer for me is, any way if calculating value that has Kevin Pillar as the second most valuable Jays is probably flawed. That being said, he is having a very good defensive year, and Bautista is not even close to being this great defender the talking heads on TV try to convince people of evry game.
  21. Heh I just tuned in and saw Cron go yard. Perfect....
  22. The look on Suzuki's face after the ball left the bat was perfect.
