  1. Defense is a thing. Theres always room for the best/2nd best defensive CF in baseball on anyones team. But they still have to be able to hit at least in the 10%-15% below average or better for that defense to really matter.
  2. I don't think the Jays need to be bottom feeders for 3-4 years straight though to draft at the top of the pile. Trading guys like Happ, Estrada, Liriano, Donaldson, Bautista, Tulo (assuming those last 2 waive their no trades) plus pen arms (and I include Osuna)... should, in theory net more than just prospects. Maybe 2-3 roster players. Plus a few high prospects and they'd already be a few years ahead of drafting and waiting for 3+ years for them to start trickling in. If done right and the guys they get in trade don't all suck, a few strategic signings and the Jays could starting the upswing by 2019, just in time for Vlad Jr to arrive, rather than maybe 2021 or 2022.
  3. 2nd straight 0-fer from Vlad. Bust
  4. That's how it works in the US. When you demand money in child support you get to "expect" a certain lifestyle based on the income of the father.
  5. Naw, GD still has a good chance at turning his life around. Let's give him around chance.
  6. That or everyone ripped their tickets up and threw them away

  9. I was surprised too. Got a walk in there though
  10. Our investigative journalist in Dunedin, spats, is on the case.
  11. The Jays are kind of in no man's land now. The best time to trade Donaldson, Bautista, Happ, Estrada etc and every other old guy is at the upcoming deadline, but if the Jays are selling....it probably means all those guys aren't performing and won't garner much interest... Donaldson notwithstanding. However if all those guys are performing well, then the Jays won't be selling. It's a very interesting scenario
  12. To be fair, the only way to elevate a sinker is an uppercut swing.
  13. The plus for me in all this, when I'm in Toronto in June, the tickets will be dirt cheap.
  14. It's too early to say. it's still a crapshoot to see if Bichette's weirdo swing can translate to the upper minors. Chances are it won't be messed with as long as it's working though. The consensus right now seems to be that Vlad is a pure beast hitter who might end up at 1b or the OF. The bat is not in question at all. Bichette still has a few unknowns with the bat but probably ends up at 2b or the LF. He also has a thick lower half and won't stick at SS long term imo.
  15. Well, I guess I'm fired from the GDT. Someone else has to pick up tomorrow who hasn't been a part of this abysmal streak
  16. See, that's the pitch Jose used to kill. Down and in. Doesn't even swing at it anymore
  17. Must be nice to pitch to 4 inches of extra invisible plate
  18. Nah. To me it just looks like a bunch of players that aren't really focused on what they're looking for. Either over agressive on balls off the plate, or passive watching hittable pitches go by. Gotta figure out their approach and stick to it.
  19. Got a reliever that's only retired 3 of 14 batter's faced? How do you fix him? Face the Jays. Instantly back on track
  20. Lololol breakout candidate Pillar still swinging at the other batter's box.... what a pylon
  21. Pretty sure pinch hitting for Barney would be a mistake at this point. You'd have nobody left to catch if Martin were to get hurt
  22. Pretty sure it's because if any IF or OF also gets hurt, Goins would have to go in for them and Barney would still be available as the emergency 3rd catcher... I think.
