  1. It was some agreement in the original contract that he would be released at the end of 7 years (unless extended) regardless of his arbitration status.
  2. With Kikuchi it doesnt really matter who he's facing if he cant put his fastball in the zone.
  3. I dont follow soccer, so cant really speak on that, but 1 player cant carry jack in the NBA anymore. And football, even the best QB in the world cant carry a team with a porous O-line and nodoby to throw to.
  4. THis is why I dislike narratives that give individual players extra credit for winning championships in team sports, especially baseball. 1 guy makes next to no difference if the rest of the team is constantly average or worse. Trout is easily the best player of his generation and I dont think its particularly close.
  5. I breifed that article, but I would suspect it's because they dont know how long he can stay at catcher with the D he has. With his body shape, the spiral of physical limitations as a catcher will be real.
  6. here, i was on the mlb.com board probably not long after spanky
  7. For the most part they'll all go to the complex league right away, with the possible exception of some of the college arms that may go to A ball. A+ is a maybe for some college guys, but that would depend on whether they have a passport.
  8. Meh, Locastro will just play at an All Star level for the next 2 weeks, because... the Yankees.
  9. Zimmer as the 26th man on this team is not the problem. Right now he's being utlized perfectly to maximize his actual talents by only playing defense late in games and being used as a pinch runner. Keeping his PAs minimized is fine. In the playoffs there's always those one-off scenarios where you need his skillset and all he comes in for is that one thing and that one thing only. If you can find a guy with actual thunder in the bat that also provides legit plus CF defense and baserunning and hits left handed... sure, but that kind of player as a bench guy doesnt exist. Those are all starters.
  10. Dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria! Some weird numbers in there.
  11. I really hate that narrative. Teams have dozens and dozens and dozens of people working on these things practically around the clock. It's not like they suddenly woke up after the draft and were like... wait, we might need to improve the club in the next two weeks? OMG GET ON IT! Is the rotation good? Who's on the injury list? Do we need a reliever? Wait, who's in left field? What about the bench, how's that looking? There's been talks going on for weeks guaranteed, its just the urgency picks up a bit and there will finally be some back and forth negotiation happening now.
  12. I wish they would start putting baseball IQ as a tool.
  13. Couple of your articles are from 2005, but at least you did the work.
  14. Show the government statistics please. You’re relying on them for your claim so let’s see them. Provide the link please. Here’s mine and a relevant quote. Used US source https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/childabuseandneglect/fastfact.html “Child abuse and neglect are common. At least 1 in 7 children have experienced child abuse or neglect in the past year in the United States. This is likely an underestimate because many cases are unreported. In 2020, 1,750 children died of abuse and neglect in the United States” So 1 in 7 is confirmed, article says it’s likely an underestimate due to unreported cases. So again, tell me how you arrived at 25% + or - ….
  15. Then why throw out an arbitrary number? Makes no sense to do that and back it up with “It depends on how physical abuse is defined…” The way you’ve put out that number an attempted to explain is is pure ********.
  16. Current numbers suggest it’s about 1 in 7 kids. That’s not 25%.
  17. Unless its a pathological hatred, Grant wins. The Red Sox hate from him is hotter than 1000 suns.
  18. Feels like a Fangraphs article will be coming shortly about last nights game. That was insane to watch
  19. Interesting fact, if Beasley throws the rest of the game with a Jays win, he will get a save.
  20. Nice gift from Schneider to put all the lefty pinch hitters in against their lefty.
  21. Anyone want to take a shot at the math on how likely it is to score 11 runs after there are 2 outs in an inning?
  22. Why even bother trying to go 2 in an 18 run game unless it’s a gapper
  23. Hey at least Tapia did this thing intentionally!
