  1. This is the lineup I think we see for the majority against RHP. Pretty much bang on what I expected, except that Merrifield and Biggio won't likely be a super strict platoon at 2b
  2. Ffs, I could have sworn last time I looked they had him at having no options left. He still has all 3 minor league options. Rough day, I just wrote my organic chemistry midterm and had all those nucleophilic substitutions, molecule chirality and radical reactions stuck rattling around in my brain. Don’t mind me, nothing to see here I’m still on team Lopez
  3. Nootbaar absolutely needs a chocolate bar to be named after him. If not, society has failed.
  4. I have 2 to identify with now. Lethbridge College Kodiaks and University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. I am both predator and prey.
  5. I have the same thoughts. His only real plus over Lopez is slightly more power and left handed.
  6. It's definitely more of a US thing to get all attached to the university or college's athletcis program. People claim to be a Bulldog or a Fighting Irish until they die just because they went to school there. Identifying with the uni sports team just isnt as big a deal in Canada.
  7. Oh yeah he's on a minor league deal so I guess a DFA wouldnt come into play. He's probably the kind of guy though that could request his release and get it if another team came calling and had a spot for him on their 26 man roster. Or maybe a trade for cash or something other minor leaguer. He's not worth much in trade. Edit... no I was right he is on the 40 man. They cant send him to the minors without exposing him to being claimed, so... he could be DFA'd
  8. C Carson Kelly of the D-backs will be out a while, Looks like Moreno might be their starter right out of the gate. Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Carson Kelly has suffered a fractured right forearm, manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Tuesday. Lovullo didn't say how long Kelly would be sidelined with the injury, but it figures to be a lengthy absence. Kelly suffered the injury on Monday when he was struck by a pitch during a spring training game against the White Sox.
  9. I like Lopez as the 26th man, but Lukes has been impressive and probably deserves a bench role as well. I could see them going with Lukes initially since Lopez has options, and there would still be enough defensive flexibility that the roster wouldn't suffer, but it's really hard to say the Lopez wouldn't be the optimal 26th man given that he can play anywhere with average to above average D, runs well, and might run into a HR every month or so. Lukes for certain has the power edge over Lopez but even then it's probably below average power at the MLB level, but ... with only being an OF, when there's already ... 4 capable CF and 1 corner guy on the roster and he's not better defensively than any of them except probably Biggio... he'd basically be a pinch hitter/runner and never really see the field except in blowouts. I'm on team Lopez, and I wish Lukes the best of luck in grabbing a bench role elsewhere if he ends up getting DFA'd
  10. Full list of the recent reassignemmets: OF Zach Britton OF Wynton Bernard C Phil Clarke UTIL Ernie Clement LHP Brandon Eisert RHP Julian Fernandez LHP Paul Fry RHP Drew Hutchison RHP Jackson Rees C Andres Sosa Optioned: INF Addison Barger Hutchison appeared in three spring games with the Blue Jays, allowing 15 hits and nine runs over 7.0 innings. He recently sustained a minor oblique strain and was listed as day-to-day. The 32-year-old had a 3-9 record with a 4.53 ERA in 28 games (18 starts) with the Detroit Tigers last season. He spent most of the first four seasons of his career with the Jays, posting a 4.92 ERA over 73 starts. Barger, 23, has impressed during spring training, hitting .294 with one home run and six RBI over 15 games. He slashed .308/.378/.555 with 26 home runs and 91 RBI across the minors last season
  11. That’s not a given at Votto’s age and him coming off shoulder surgery

I wonder what the lead up to that was. I watched the vid but they only showed about 15 seconds before the fight, Schenn gave him a good crosscheck in the arm and Ehlers went down, play goes on a bit they they go at it. It looked like Schenn was getting some sort of revenge on Ehlers with that crosscheck, but I wonder what Ehlers did first.
  13. Votto doesnt seem like the kind of guy who would ever ask to be traded either. I remember him saying something like asking for a trade isnt something he would do. And I found the quote, it was from last year. “I have never once in my career asked or even whispered anything like [being traded],” Votto said. “I’ve been loyal to this uniform, to this city, to the contract that I signed. On my side of things, it’s never been something I’ve ever really prompted. I have a responsibility to the person that signs my checks.”
  14. LOL, IF they are out of it...Cincinatti is one of those teams that can be certain they will pretty much eliminated from the playoffs by about June 1.
  15. No no, sociopath. Big difference
  16. Were the opposite questions asked when the Jays put up 41 runs over 3 games earlier in the spring?
  17. Volpe has a case there to be a little confused. 3 called strikes.
  18. Wow, Rivera held a runner at third so he wouldnt get gunned by 30 feet. Progress IS possible.
  19. No doubt. That would be height of stupidity, right up there with bunting in the 9th inning to advance the tying run from 1st to 2nd.

Would it be a safe assumption they'll be wearing those old Toronto St Patricks jerseys they bring out from time to time?
  21. It has literally nothing to do with the decade, they still use the word in England for cigarettes.
  22. I dont think that door is closed completely, but it's damn close. There's not much point in trying to stretch him back into a starter if he only hits like 60 innings this season and would then only be good for 90-110 innings next year as a starter. His only real shot at getting back as a starter is doing a lot of multi-inning relief this season, with no health problems, and gets 100+ innings IMO so that if they wanted to, and his health held up, they could try for 140 IP next season. Lots of IFs. And he went 2 innings today, so... that's obviously what they are thinking and hoping also.
  23. Retarded is a perfectly fine word if used correctly and not as a slang dig at something. Like, if someone's learning or growth in any field has been blocked or slowed down by any reason, their learning or growth has been retarded. If I have to tar a building roof over again, it can be retarred. Also I learned today that getting "gypped" (i always thought it was spelled jipped...who knew?) is a derogatory slang term referring to gypsies in Romania who were looked down upon as thieves and crooks. I didn't even know being a Gypsy was a bad thing, i though it was just some people who liked moving around alot. Now, when I feel like using gypped I have to go back to the tried and tested... I just got Jew'd. That's still okay right?
  24. Here's the same PA from BAseball Savant. Pitches 2 and 4 are not egegiously bad, really borderline. But #7 was a bad call
