  1. I find it interesting that everyone wants more velocity and then wants to demote Pop, the second hardest thrower on the team. He was very effective for us last year and is off to a good start this year as well. K/9 underrates guys who never walk anyone and K% is more useful. It's projected around 20%, which will probably be about average, and actually quite good for a pitcher with excellent control and high groundball tendencies.
  2. Vladdy - 1 Point - mphenhef Bichette - 1 Point - Dylan, Chapman - 1 Point Varsho - 2 Points - Deadpool, Springer - 2 Points - JaysBlue, Belt - 3 Points - JohnHavok Kirk - 3 Points Kiermaier - 3 Points Biggio - 4 Points - JaysAllMighty, Spanky, Grant Off the bench: 10 Points
  3. Gibbons was better than them both.
  4. What happened to the nice scoreboard we used to have at the top of the forum?
  5. We were 16th in reliever WAR last year and we're also 16th this year with mostly the same personnel. It's a clearly average 'pen putting up average results. Whether one thinks that is good enough is a matter of opinion. I think the impact of relief pitching has been somewhat overstated in recent years.
  6. Yes, of course I do. Good on the fans for going to the game and making themselves heard. It wasn't at a Seattle level, but the 'Let's go Blue Jays' chants were nice and loud on the telecast.
  7. With the same positioning I think there's a strong chance he makes it look easy.
  8. I think a lot of it depends on how Barger does this year. We've got some pretty good minor league depth at that position.
  9. He has, in large part, cost them 2 games already this season with defensive miscues. I'm surprised they doubled down on bad defensive players again after their experience with Winker and Haniger.
  10. The league is showing its true colours with the balanced schedule. West: 7 games under .500 Central: 6 games under .500 East: 14 games over .500
  11. The real baseball portion of this game is over. I'm calling it a tie and checking out. Enjoy the gimmicks, for those non baseball fans who like that kind of thing.
  12. Embarrassing. You get through their only 2 decent hitters and give up this s***. A couple of awful, awful calls this inning loom large.
  13. Horrendous call. He very clearly went.
  14. O'Hoppy your way back to the bench, pal.
  15. Credit to the Jays fans making themselves heard at Angel Stadium. Assuming it's a lot of people from the Western provinces.
  16. I didn't say anything about that, but I will comment about the 99 he just threw.
  17. Awfully s***** call there.
  18. This is the most Angels thing I've ever seen.
  19. A large factor in the trade that I think gets missed sometimes is the money. I look at the contract for a similar hitter like Michael Conforto and wonder how much a player like Teo is really worth. I think we did very well to get some serious value out of him.
  20. Zack Greinke, perhaps Gerrit Cole.
  21. Cool fact, but it's not true. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA196205062.shtml Edit: Nevermind, it was a double header! https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA196205061.shtml The Yankees went 96-66 that year and won the World Series. That's what you would expect from a team with 2 prime MVP's.
  22. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=0&type=1&season=2023&month=0&season1=2023&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=&enddate= Early returns from the 'improved defense' are not very good at all. Hoe long does it take for these numbers to stabilize? There are some really wacky outliers right now.
  23. Bo is such a hockey player in his post-game interviews. Cliches the whole time haha.
  24. Lamb and Drury batting 4 and 5 for the Angels. Bless this awful organization.
