  1. Alright then. I don't think it's fair to assume that front offices only trade prospects that they don't think are good. I also think 'player development' includes drafting and developing in the minor leagues. If he turns into a big league player on any team then the player development was probably pretty successful.
  2. Two questions. Why not and how do you know?
  3. That isn't what you said at all, but you seemingly agree with me now.
  4. Teams in first place still trade for better players. Your argument is garbage and you know it.
  5. I agree that we could always use improvement, but we have been well above average on the player development side of things. We've plundered our prospect pool a number of times and it's still 10-15 in the league, which is rather impressive.
  6. I think there's some merit to letting Jacoby go at the end of the season, but I'd be fine with it either way. People can rail on Gibbons for not playing small ball and whatnot, but the hitters are clearly not prepared or able to execute bunts (Thole, etc.), hit and run plays, and situational hitting like grounders to the right side and sac flies.
  7. Cherington's job will be focused on player development per Davidi.
  8. Didn't do a very good job as a GM, but a highly thought of baseball guy. Probably a good move.
  9. I never understood what depression was until now.
  10. That's what happens when you play the worst baseball in the history of the franchise for a month.
  11. If he would have let Russ call his pitch, there is no HR and we might win. He needs to shut the f*** up and do what his catcher says. Players with as little baseball sense as Stroman don't deserve to call their own pitches.
  12. Indians manager Terry Francona says he won't use an out clause in his contract if Cleveland President Mark Shapiro takes a job elsewhere. Shapiro reportedly is a candidate to succeed Toronto Blue Jays President Paul Beeston, who plans to retire after this season. Shapiro has declined to comment on the report. Francona said last week Shapiro had made him aware of the situation, which reportedly will be resolved in the next few days. Francona signed a contract extension following last season through 2018 with team options for 2019 and 2020. ''If Mark's not here, there's a time I guess to talk about that,'' Francona said Friday. ''The way it (the out clause) was meant, I would honor. I have no intention of ever using something like that as leverage for another job, because I don't want to.''
  13. Gibby should probably stay based on merit, but I don't have a strong opinion either way. Anyone who has watched Franconia manage in the past knows that he has a very similar managing style to Gibbons. I'm sure he'd do a good job, but our idiot fans will be in the same place after a year or two.
  14. I'm extremely, extremely, extremely confident in saying that we'd eventually have the same complaints and the same discussions regarding Bud Black. Fans are never happy with their manager and thry always think they have the worst one (including Giants, Orioles, Indians, etc.). The fact is that Gibby is decidedly better than guys like Farrell, Bannister, and Yost, but look where those teams have been in recent years. I'm not pro or against firing him, but to think it will improve our performance in any way, shape, or form is a massive pipe dream.
  15. I don't think I've ever been so disgusted with something in my life. I actually feel sick she I turn on the TV.
  16. Well that went right over your head.
  17. You don't lead the league in RBI's without getting a base knock or two with men on.
  18. Why the hate for Edwin? He's been good all year, including September.
  19. I'm ready to label Stroman as the stupidest player in the major leagues. He constantly gets into great counts and inexplicably throws hittable pitches over the plate. I've honestly never seen anything like it. Sure, guys make mistake pitches over the plate, but he does it on purpose. If Pete Walker and Russ Martin can't get through to him, maybe it's time to shake things up somehow. Maybe get a talk from the F.O. and put him with Navarro or something. He can't continue to be as downright stupid as he was with the pitches to Dickerson and Ramirez. It's not acceptable.
  20. Perhaps a good runner like Encarnacion, but it's doubtful that he'll have above average speed in his 20's.
  21. I'd say the majority of people got in with their phones at U.S. Cellular Field (soon to be Guaranteed Rate Field lol).
  22. Attendance was 35K btw. What terrible fans we have...
