I’ve said before I was in San Diego for a bit many years ago, when it was such a s***/forgettable org, so I can definitely admire what that owner did, even if the nerds can’t

    No. Wheels came off after the Deadline. They had a punchers chance if I remember right

    If San Diego doesn’t get a blue chip project that’s projected to be a clearly above average regular/star potential at least, it makes sense to hold on to him until the Deadline. Either he helps them in the playoff race, or you can flip him for just as much (if it’s a light return now) if he’s having a strong year

    Supply and demand, bro. It’ll depend if they want to water down the return to shed payroll. Any team making the move will be aware they are likely losing on future WAR across all players in the deal. Someone like Soto isn’t available often and is a “playoff roster game changer” Someone will pay close to what SD wants

    While I would agree, it should also be noted it’s certainly not the unknown gamble it was years ago. There’s at least been some sample size now to see how they translate.

    Pretty crazy how even internet rankings are all over place for Chicken sandwiches for fast food. Advertising $ prob plays a part. Popeyes and Chick Filet are at least usually Top 1/3. The other one is Shake Shack, which I haven’t had. Looks like they’re going to hit Toronto hard in 2024, no doubt encouraged by the marketing data given by the Chick Filet loving hipsters, like Laila and Co. Edit: actually 35 locations over 10 years. Slow rollout next year but I imagine it’ll do well

    Packers are basically going to have to give Love a mega contract soon and get stuck with an average QB. Guess they’ll have to make it up other areas

    My hope for my son is he finds the middle ground. He’s a finance major and at one point of course he dreamed of Wall Street Bro life. But I told him a lot of those guys are working 15 hour days, 6-7 days a week. I’m trying to teach him to go to work with a great attitude and give it all he’s got, and then go home.

    He mostly painted me fairly. I would swap out lazy with unmotivated and unfocused though. The drawbacks from the sense of grandeur a sociopath has. I should be ruler of the world instead of a 9-5 kind of thing. Wealth alone isn’t a draw for me. I think even for super successful entrepreneurs, wealth isn’t the draw (well for many it is, sure). They just found a passion for something. These college bills forced me to focus on a bigger paycheck though and recently I got to the Top 10% of US salaries and without working in a big city. However, that follows 15-20 years of purposeful underemployment. Ironically, or not ironically, starting when I first came here lol.

    I think with the owner dying, getting rid of that contract will probably be more attractive to them than the max prospect return

    I’d bet it’s structured where he’s making $1-3 million the first couple of years, so if needs seasoning, not a big deal. They’re just betting he’s going to eventually be good. And not even star good.

    I meant for US colleges. I paid $15k for my son’s high school. $20-30k would be the same here for a little more prestigious. Then you have the places the super rich send their kids to.
