  1. He actually comes off as likable there. Just unbecoming of a baseball GM. He's clearly blitzed at the bar it seems. Kind of funny. This is aside from the fact that he's a terrible GM
  2. Yeah I can agree with that line of thinking. Sure there can be animosity and a reluctance to deal with someone..but if there's a glove that fits perfectly anyone with half a brain wouldn't hold the team back for a high school like grudge
  3. I don't remember the drama but I just cant wrap my head around a team that would automaically disregard a player they are really high on and can help the team in a big way. More than likely this is jut a case where boras wants more than jays are willing to pay. Not like they're known for emptying the pockets with FA
  4. I agree. These guys are running a billion dollar company, there's no room for pettiness. I'm sure the team knows if it wants a player and what they are willing to max out at. That's common sense anyway.. Who knows though
  5. Only guys I would give more than 5 years is Cano, Ellsbury, or Choo. Not even Tanaka, he isn't Yu. I would do somethig like 6/110 for Choo. I never really followed the Jay/SB issues..but Apparently they don't deal with him I guess
  6. Yeah, I respect there's data behind the numbers and it's better than the average Joe's projection.. But obviously they can be wrong quite a bit..so it's ok to judge what's being tossed out as long as you're being open-minded. For instance, I don't like how pitchers get painted with a broad brush. Things like the aging curve and velocity dips will tip the scales downward but I think the good pitchers with very good secondary stuff shouldn't be lumped in with the hundreds of pitchers that don't in making a projection.
  7. They have Soriano being replacement level. I think they were conservative on Gardner and Beltran too
  8. Still suprising to see them at 29.4 and NYY are 18 something..
  9. Suprised to see SF 2nd in mlb in batting WAR.. going to assume it's due to a healthy UZR dose.. but you'd think in a pitchers park they would be suppressed.. or maybe UZR adjusts for park factors more than likely edit: Actually I guess if its a pitchers park.. more balls will be outs.. I guess I was thinking of bigger OF means more balls that drop
  10. Ugh. Doubtful anyone will give equal value to what Santos could be worth. Please sell high on Janssen/Cecil
  11. In plus news..this board is showing good signs of life with a 200+ post thread a couple hours after rumor. Lot of activity in other threads too. Maybe cause WM and people are on here checking in? I know I can personally count on fatcow and angrioter to give me the breaking news as it happens
  12. His deals since the Happ one have people cringing on what comes next. It's his own doing that caused paranoia
  13. If I was the Rays. I would think Edwin >Walker. Honestly I would rather see Rays aquire Walker than a Edwin type guy
  14. Omfg.. Who else could see something like this happening? Short on time today..didn't read many replies so sorry if I'm parroting.. This makes no f'n sense..and I'm one of few on here that believe in Price..think he will age/perform like Lee I would do Moore for Edwin without thinking twice normally... But the way the team is built presently..without any corresponding deals to aquire a big bat..I dont think I would even do that deal.
  15. Yeah clear from that article RH knew he wasn't capable of pitching. Has to suck but at least he's not retiring from the NFL (brain defects).. And he has bank.. So he will be ok
  16. Maybe he didn't rehab well though. Knew he wouldn't be effective
  17. I don't know. He couldn't have been shamed any more. Was already at the bottom. No harm in trying to have a decent year on a contender before riding off into sunset.
  18. Reading comprehension isn't as easy as spamming from multiple accounts I guess?
  19. Prob a fan schmooze job about how Rogers is willing to do whatever is needed
  20. Well.. one thing that we dont look into much as fans is the business side of things. I dont know much about the Astros' operations.. but there's so many things to consider in terms of tv deals, attendance, merchandising, etc.. they might be thinking they at least want to win a few more games. They could have seen a worrying trend from last season's debacle.. and rather than spend a ton of money when they arent ready to compete.. at least try to gain some wins. I would definitely think that way as an owner.. you can think that and still be fiscally responsbile.. I mean.. the tv deal with mlb gives team an extra $25m.. plus Stros prob get a lot of rev sharing... there's no reason for a $25-$30m payroll.. its robbing the fans
  21. For the record I just looked and Steamer and Oliver both gave him mcuh (relatively speaking) healthier OPS's than I did.
  22. Not saying I would bet on it.. lol
  23. That would be tough. Jays need some young SP. Hutch and Stroman are the only hope in near future. I dont know though. I really like Shark. I would do Sanchez + Gose + Drabek + Pillar and be ok with it. assuming extension. Not sure if they would bite though
