  1. Ha. I was going to say the only better I could think of was ecjf. Level-headed, mature, and not part of the pack. Word is he got the Colon stem cell treatment and that's why he finished Top 5 in post count last month after years of casual interest. That following his prime posting years of the old board.

It's still fresh in my mind from when LeBron made his "Decision" to go to MIA and the Cavs owner blew a gasket...lol... Guaranteed a title before LeBron got one amongst other things he said. Despite all the front-end picks since, including KI, they still suck. Of course, hard to blame him for losing his cool on the LeBron thing, not only the winning but he literally probably lost hundreds of millions in franchise value in a single swoop. There's really no comp for that in any American major team sport. Also, when you reflect on those Cavs teams that had the best record in the NBA and went to the finals, you understand just how good LJ is.
  3. I really could've used the Latos win in my fantasy leagues...I'm totally cool with missing out if the Jays win it...but if they don't that sucks
  4. How will we get our history lessons on the 92-93 teams? Come on bro.... In seriousness the board needs diversity, you shouldn't leave. I think you take it too personal when people don't believe in the Jays like you do. I think only a small minority are negative Nancys, almost rooting for the Jays to fail
  5. Either way porky RR is getting PAID. Probably going to rehab appointments in his Ferrari. Lucky bastard...lol...hope he's sending AA Xmas cards (maybe that's trolling though) joking... he actually seems like a good guy and sincere competitor, probably tears him up that he sucks now
  6. Did anyone catch the clip where some news guys interviewing Samuel Jackson mistook him for doing a super bowl commercial that Lawrence Fishburne did? ...lol... it was funny. SJ got so pissed and started giving the guys s*** about him thinking all black people look the same
  7. Hey as long as we're OT like this... do Canadians really say "eh" a lot or is that just an overblown thing that Americans like to mock on. It's a serious question.
  8. "So if people want to put up rationale reasons why they may lose the season, and do something like pick another AL East team that will win, go for it. But this whole theory that the Jays will lose because they haven't won in 20 years and something about the jersey decrees this is a whole bunch of crap. Yet we see this kind of posting on here 20 times a day now. " Agreed. My simple reasoning is I don't think many Jays are as good as their numbers were from season start till a couple weeks ago. We'll see. I also agree it's dumb to say they wont win because they haven't in 20 years but it's equally dumb to compare them to a team from 20 years ago as well.
  9. Kind of tit-for-tat but if you're moving towards your mean like the Jays are now, isn't that progressing to the mean:p
  10. It's ok for ppl to have other opinions bro. I made my opinion known that I also don't like their chances. If I'm proven wrong though, I prefer that actually. I'd be happy. Also, I'm (and neither are many others) not the type that's going to track you down when/if they do choke and say "told you so homer"... we're just sharing opinions.
  11. actually if taken literally it makes sense (Jays are doing it right now)... just not the way he meant it
  12. DR is easy to differentiate. Much darker for the most part
  13. Regarding the SP, yeah, I think it's important for AA and his army of scouts to really step up and make a decision on what they have. In reference to Stroman, Hutch, and Sanchez... I don't really care what the board opinion is because everyone was/is fapping to Hutch/Stroman/Sanchez or whatever but by year end (or much sooner) those same people could be saying "f***, wish we moved him when he could've"... although nothing is guaranteed the Jays have the most knowledge (more so than other teams) of what they have in these guys and hopefully AA makes the best possible decision regarding keeping them or acquiring a known mlb commodity like Shark.
  14. Does the DR like the Cubans? Idk. PRetty sure nobody likes the Puerto Ricans though

It's not that common, though it seems to be occurring more nowadays then when I really followed the game closely 10 years ago. Anyways, I don't think its a "kiss of death" by any means... but it's an injury that should cause concern.

Derek Rose 2012?.. I guess you cant say it killed his career but it sure seems that way. It's such an athlete's sport with the needed bursts and jumping obviously... there's already such a thin line when you're at an elite level. Think it was downfall of Grant Hill (he had ankle too), PEnny Hardaway.. sure there's others.
  17. I did. Go back to it though to see, it's beyond terrible. That sempai guys spams the board with rubbish while djblueray and a couple others chime in. Then you have your zee/dogg accounts taking up a good majority of the other posts
  18. How much does the academy take out of player's initial bonus?
  19. Yeah, at least make them choose a name not making an obvious link to the banned account so there's some question to it. Otherwise, it's thumbing their nose at the authority
  20. As I said above, I don't mind this take. I wouldn't have called it out or tried to chop it down though in my opinion you're seeing a regression to their true talent. I just thought the 93 comp was silly and irrelevant
  21. "and in 2014 there are far more reasons to expect success then failure." I can dig this if someone makes that argument. Like diluted competition or whatever it may be. I may have a different view but I don't mind someone focusing on positives. I was just saying using an example from 20+ years ago to prove a point wasn't very objective
  22. I'm half-working so I guess I don't fully understand why what I said was without substance. Why do we have to go back to 93 to find a similar club though? This is just about the exact same club that played last year, so that will be your best comp.
  23. This is a terrible rebuttal. You quote an example from 20+ years ago. What about all the times since then that the Jays have given us a false glimmer of hope? If anything, history would tell us not to buy into the good streak and accept that failure is the much more likely scenario. Not that I'm hoping for it. I made my son into a BJ fan here in NY and he can finally go into school with his head held high...lol... but I'm skeptical on the Jays chances. When August rolls around and they're in the same spot I'll be more emotionally invested. In the meantime, it's cool seeing them leading the division and playing meaningful games in June at least (unlike last year)
  24. What did Smedley do anyway? Cant be from this thread edit: forget it, I see now
  25. Yeah as a casual... if you're a little older anyway... putting in a position player to pitch brings to mind Jose Canseco being brought in for that purpose and blowing out his shoulder. I think a lot of teams probably took note that day. It's one thing when it's a less preventable thing like a guy jumping onto home plate after a walk-off HR but in the case of bringing in a position player to pitch, you'd think you want to do that with one of your least valuable guys.
