  1. In fairness, the 1st piece was Luis Robert. If he had viewed Lewis as a legit Top 20 asset like I did we could’ve added from there but as I didn’t have any other player like that I’d offer, we left it at that
  2. Of course in person scouting isn’t the best. I remember going down to Jays games in Texas few years back and deciding to buy Nomar Mazara shares because he looked big and strong
  3. I did like RL. Thought he was going to be very fantasy relevant but in floating him on bigger names nobody really liked him that much so figured to hold on to him until he broke out. Scouts liked him despite the numbers and he started breaking out in AFL. I don’t really like him a lot though after seeing him play in the Futures Game in Cleveland. I was front row and when he came up with game on the line he was visibility nervous as s*** and talking to his bat, pleading. As a human you can totally get it but I’ll take the Kobe alpha male attitude for my sports superstar
  4. After Royce Lewis I’m questioning the wisdom in holding stocks in one basket rather than diversifying. Plus I kind of want to win now in one of the leagues as I’m on the cusp. Just thought of it anyway
  5. RG is basically Kelenic+ after ST. Haters
  6. Riley Greene vs oft-injured Aaron Judge. Dynasty. What would you need to add in prospect capital? Asking for a friend
  7. Yeah bad post on my part. Forgot about full no-trade. Though there were probably other destinations he’d approve, definitely can’t say league-wide. Carry on
  8. The Rockies may be retarded but they’re not kicking in $50m if they don’t have to for no-name prospects. It was therefore clearly a negative value contract mlb-wide
  9. Not totally disagreeing but if it came playoff time and I could have either both Paxton and Odorizzi or Semein, I’d go with the pitchers considering everything. Definitely some what ifs involved but Semein has his own what ifs as well
  10. Yeah stats scared away the fantasy players but not scouts.. and it’s not like he’s glove-first prospect
  11. I’ve floated him a bit in 2 diff leagues on here. Nobody really viewed his as premium asset, so I figured better to hold on to him. Jim is probably just looking to be a vulture- I assume it’s an off-board league though
  12. It’s only for the owners like a Steve Cohen to come out and say they’re manipulating service time. Maybe it’s known to anyone with a brain but it’s still your role as a corporate shill to be like “he needs more seasoning”. If you want to carry the big stick, buy your own team And even an owner has to answer to mlb
  13. Yeah but it’s like any kid that threw 90 was a major leaguer 50 years ago
  14. Everyone likes a comeback story. This will be a second for him obviously. O/T but I just read an article a minute ago where Alex Smith tossed his team under the bus and said they didn’t even want him to come back lol
  15. Gotta assume there was an insensitive pun there. Hopefully a mod doesn’t catch it
  16. Jake Odorizzi (or less) will be the type of guy available at the deadline. Anyone “far better” as Spank-off suggests will be someone every team wants to get their hands on, which would make it unlikely such a deal is made by the Jays. Not something you’d want to bank on. That said, doesn’t make it a reason to overpay now.
  17. There should be a floor, agree on that but players didn’t make a concession allowing a soft cap was what was in dispute
  18. Yeah if you go to a hard cap, the teams that will be pressing the ceiling are the big market teams. You’ll take them out of the market on players and that may be better for competitive balance but not for the players
  19. Yeah but a hard cap puts a lot of pressure downwards on paying the super elite players and also other contracts in trying to fill your team out. There’s benefits to both but the current system is better for the players
  20. Far better at the deadline. Easy peasy. They’ll prob give him to us
  21. Not sure the PA let’s there be a soft cap. That’s what they would clearly prefer, no? If there was a hard cap you’d want a floor I guess
  22. Yeah I guess the question is how do you climb the ladder that high with that kind of lack of discretion. I’d say maybe he had one cocktail too many but it was a breakfast meeting... though if someone has a problem I guess that doesn’t matter
  23. Inevitable I guess. Most of it was speaking frank in a casual atmosphere. Like texting, we don’t know the tone/delivery on the few “bad” things he said that went beyond “over-sharing”. Pretty insulting reading as text though..the language things Anyways, being in that position you need to know better. Bunch of people like King sitting in every crowd these days. Can’t really feel sorry for him
  24. I’d be cool if Jays did it in that spot
  25. They (may) save $30-40m the next 4 years and after that will give him a contract of roughly 10/314 which would be under market rate (potentially) and no chance of getting outbid by the big clubs. Of course it could go wrong, any long contract can. But it can also be good deal for them just as easy
