Pretty much nothing gets done until closer to the deadline anyway. Jays will be a playoff team regardless, the arm will be about the next level. So I agree with your dumbass for a change
I’m a Kooch guy but let’s not put him in the good SP bin. He’s an actual decent backend SP not a past failure like Chase Anderson (Laila’s boy) or Roarke. Not someone you want starting Game 4 in a big spot for sure. And Berrios is scary so far. Like maybe he could use a reset next year
You can’t just say “SP WAR” and gloss over how much 1/2 is contributing. Youd have to frame it on what Jays are getting from 3/4 vs other teams in the context of this discussion
Having another solid SP would not be a bad thing even if nobody gets hurt. Berrios is a coin flip at best right now, and Kooch is what you could reasonably hope for but not the kind on guy you feel great about as the playoff #4 SP
Tomato tomoto bro. If Manoah or Gausman goes down, it’s suddenly critical. So instead of finding yourself in that pinch, one could say it’s critical to improve depth so you’re not scrambling for it later (possibly to no avail)
“ssss”= small sample size Spanky lol.
If you want to take a 100+ AB sample size to say Jansen has broken out, so be it. But if someone leans on his whole 900 AB career 91 wRC+ and says sell high, leave them be
It’s a lazy narrative to say there is no such thing as improved performance in a contract year. I’m sure there’s studies but usually you can easily find flaws in those studies. It’s too much work in general. Better to just stick to a narrative
