    I'd give Bautista 4/100. Don't want that 5th year at all. The problem with getting a deal done with either one of them before the offseason is that it basically signals to the other that they're gone. Not exactly the most the type of air you want floating around the clubhouse. Shapiro is really in a sticky spot.

    They are obviously interested in hedging against Saunders knee and if Bruce can be brought in for roughly the same dollars he's a comparable player with some upside. Pompey will get his at bats even if he starts as the 4th OF so I'm confused why you think acquiring Bruce will bury him on the depth chart. Also, 1M buyout. Nobody is saying Bruce has to stay in 2017.
