  1. I was just going to say, the Reds probably want a guy like Wood or Brock Stewart or Dennis Santana, and the Dodgers probably want to make space for Verdugo.
  2. Okay, I do agree now that MLB should ban "The Opener", if only because every time some unheralded pitcher or fringe arm gets traded or acquired a million voices in message board unison across the internet right now probably go, "hmmmm. he'd probably make a good Opener!" and I can see why that will get annoying.
  3. MLB Radio: Where former and now irrelevant dinosaur GMs go to pasture.
  4. For the simple fact that the Rays did this, I will assume Rollie Lacy is > Brock Burke.
  5. Why?
  6. Planting the seeds for him being the Manager in Lansing in like, 2024.
  7. Let's not just ignore Pivetta's career 5.77 ERA. That's 0.3 career RA9-WAR. Of course, his ERA is nowhere near stable and the gap between his fWAR and the above is huge. But we can read between the line (singular) and at least infer the Longenhagen is saying he believes Pivetta is a HR or some kind of guy who gets hammered on the ball and will always be worse than his DIPS. Not that I think there is necessarily any merit to that at this point.
  8. Hahaha wow
  9. If Vlad is weighed properly Toronto is probably 5th. I could understand how if someone did not know how to value Vlad correctly they might end up confusing Toronto with maybe 3 other teams, which would have them perhaps as low as 8th. Toronto has a lot of mediocre depth (~40 FV prospects) though, so if someone prefers to ignore 40 FV prospects they might rank Toronto as low as 8th based on that as well. I think, all things considered, Toronto is probably 5th but in a tier clearly below those four other teams, being CWS, SDP, TBR, and ATL. This post was plagiarized from Fangraphs, like all of my opinions.
  10. WOW! Did not realize Shoe got non-tendered. This changes the entire offseason outlook IMO and Atkins should be ALL. OVER. HIM.

One little thing that has always bugged me about the NBA is how you can call a timeout and then you magically teleport to the offensive end for the inbound. You should only inbound on that half of the court if you called the TO from that half of the court.
  12. Nah he's our Pete Rose.
  13. I think the most likely 2 year infield projection for Toronto is probably: SS Espinal 2B Bo 1B Vlad 3B (coin flip between Biggio or Drury?) Bench Gurribabip, Smith Gone or relegated: Urena, Travis, Tellez
  14. I will not be completing a full vote this year but I would like to propose a new category. We need a Hall of Fame category. The poster who gets nominated the most, based on their lifetime contributions to the board and not just what they did in the past year, is elected to the HOF forever. Nominee for Message Board Hall of Fame: Spanky99
  15. No way Astros do Tucker for JTR. Miami would probably have to settle for Yordan Alvarez, or something like Cionel Perez + Seth Beer. I'm surprised these teams who want a catcher aren't just pouncing on Grandal.
  16. I did some hardcore Stat Scouting on the farm: https://www.radioscouts.com/blog/stat-scouting-the-farm-pitchers Pardinho Winckowski Murray Watts Castillo Murphy Yennsy McClelland Bergen (baby come back...) Thornton Some of these names might be new to some of you - particularly the short season dudes.

He doesn't even seem like an NBA player. A former one trick pony without any tricks now!
  18. Yeah but it’s spring training and a dump stadium so what does that even mean
  19. I dunno. He is now.
  20. Nice deal for SDP. Kinsler has been worth more than 2 WAR in each of the last two years, despite below average hitting. Urias will play short.
  21. He's talking about not protecting Romano and Bergen, but selecting this baby
  22. Not quite. You’re going to make Grant and his buddies bust a gut if you don’t quit while you’re kind of ahead
  23. Grant was being selective and deceptive, his usual MO. No matter how you trace it he is the one who looks dumb in that line of posts. King’s base claim is that Morton’s velo was up in 2016, which is clearly true
  24. Everything is when you’re posting with Grant77 and his “buddies”!
  25. Fangraphs also displays a pitch velo table that just shows vFB, which is 4 seamers, sinkers and cutters all binned together
