I find the idea of a dynasty a little bit more interesting because you can hold more young/fringe assets and wait for breakouts.
Being said, I don't find the concept of a cutdown repulsive but at this point I am pretty sick of waiver drafts, which are just annoying after the first pick or two. If the vote fails my proposal would be something like this:
- we still cut down to 15 (or some higher amount) in the offseason
- in general you can do add/drops in the offseason
- add/drops get frozen for one week before the NHL season starts. During this week everyone needs to cutdown to 15 (or whatever) and then every free agent gets placed on waivers.
Basically, we would just use waiver priorities to cycle the backend of our rosters rather than a laborious waiver draft.
