One of Atkins or Shapiro made a recent comment about the SP market being "tough" right now.
Perhaps these mid/low market SPs are holding the line and asking for decent chunks of change.
The Angels' motivations in trading for Cobb might be similar to some of the motivations Toronto had in trading for Matz. Although the Jays' Matz trade was probably first and foremost a 40 man clearing trade.
Meh, Jones has very much flopped in AA; .653 OPS in 178 games. The reasonable upside there is probably below average starter or bench player and the mean projection is replacement level.
If the O's are eating like $8-10M and only getting a C prospect then that's fine for LAA.
Buy fantasy stocks in Akin, Kremer, and Baumann because they are going to pitch this year.
Still waiting on the full details here eh.
There has to be more complexity to it than has been reported. I just cannot accept, until it is confirmed, that the Rockies are just throwing $50M away with Arenado.
There's something about wonderful defensive third basemen... I don't have data but they seem to age well. Maybe that's just my brain jumping to a few players like Beltre and Rolen
It's well documented that having Coors as your home field tanks your road numbers. Something about constantly adjusting to different pitch dynamics. I'm not worried about Arenado's offense at all.
Rockies = Dumb is the assumption but we need to wait for all the details. Maybe there are some real nice lottery ticket prospects in there, or an additional major league piece... I dunno.
