  1. Stuff isn't good
  2. The Os ran 28th and 30th ranked payrolls in 2019 and 2020 Toronto would not have to be that bad. They could make all the obvious player sales and do a 2-3 year rebuild but still have a moderate payroll and try to get extra value through free agency. Sign imports like Y Rod. Compete for guys like Imanaga. Basically they could rebuild and still be a WC3 hunting team in theory.
  3. Closer to the Angels than WC3 lmfao
  4. Springer hitting 4th is insane We are being trolled
  5. Yeah the only good paths are massive losing streak or massive winning streak

    Wow.
  7. I think the issue there is Atkins The GM only gets to play that "fire the coach" card one time
  8. Time for the... third? closed door meeting of the year!!!
  9. Yes it might be the worst one this year The list of fringe MLB pitchers who have just carved this lineup up this year is wild
  10. Wow omg wow Vlad pulled a 4S for a homer
  11. Tommy Pham should be even cheaper next year!!! Maybe Charlie Morton will keep pitching and come to Toronto who are the oldest pending free agents? Scherzer, Votto, Turner, Morton, Robertson, Ottavino, Jesse Chavez. Cutch says he wants to play next year.
  12. The go for it in 2025 roster C - Kirk 1B - Vlad 3B - IKF (SS/2B) SS - Bo 2B - Horwitz (1B) LF - Schneider (2B) CF - Varsho RF - Springer (CF???) DH - Orelvis? BN - backup C, Clement (SS/3B/2B), Barger (LF/RF/3B), Lukes (OF) SP: Goose, Bassitt, Berrios, Y Rod, Tiedemann, Macko, Francis RP: Romano, Green, Pearson, Richards, Mayza, Swanson, Cabrera, Pop, Little, Danner, Burr, Eisert, Juenger, Cooke, Pardinho I feel like if they want to run it back they need: - multiple good relievers - an SP2 and SP5 - a big bat - another OF option. need to insure the Springer position better and/or get a true backup CF that isn't 30 year old Nathan Lukes Honestly very similar to what was needed this offseason, which they did not pull off. If they don't tick all those boxes they are kidding themselves. And two big bats would be better lol.
  13. It is interesting There are arguments for keeping Gausman or Berrios, or even extending Kikuchi Mr. Atkins could trade Goose and extend Kooch Or trade Goose and Kooch and hold Berrios Or trade Berrios but keep Goose since he has more upside They could trade Bassitt to dump the $$$ but will more likely keep him because he has no trade value and innings will be needed Lots of possibilities And they will do the dumbest combination of things no f***ing doubt
  14. The Brewers have been rolling out some real dirtbags lately Joe Ross, Colin Rea etc. And it works!
  15. Everyone in the Jays rotation other than Kikuchi is a ticking velo loss timebomb Take 1 mph from Berrios, Bassitt, or Gausman and they will start getting f***ing destroyed If the team is re-tooling you can justify trading literally all of them and then just signing short term SP replacements One of the only things Toronto has been good at is acquiring and fixing SP. Lean into that one f***ing organizational skill. They don't need to clutch their pearls about veteran innings...
  16. Kikuchi definitely first to go I think trying to just dump Bassitt's remaining money would be #2 for me There are then arguments for trying to get value for, and get out of the contracts for, both Gausman and Berrios But at that point you start to wonder who is even starting games for the Jays over the next 2-3 years lol I feel like Gausman's Ace allure is unfortunately gone with the velo drop and teams will be MUCH less interested in giving up premium pieces for him on that contract. Sadness.
  17. Also has no homers against sinkers this year 271 sinkers and 374 four seamers... no homers he is completely f***ing broken
  18. It's sad how broken he is
  19. hard to even see them considering #2 either Atkins and Shapiro will sell snake oil to the board of directors "we understand and appreciate that the product on the field was not as good as we all hoped for in 2024. we have a lot of internal information that points towards things getting better, much better, for most of the returning players who underperformed. we feel very strongly that, based on the processes we have in place, the people we have in place, the talent that we have up and down the organization and within the front office, things will turn around in 2025. and we will continue to implement and iterate on our approach to free agency and roster construction. we continue to have productive trade conversations aimed towards improving the team in every way - not just offense, but pitching, defense, baserunning, and the bullpen. our development systems and resources continue to add value to the organization in many ways. we are exploring every facet of the game searching for optimizations and improvements and feel very strongly that with one more year the fruits of all of this will be obvious."
  20. There are three levels of rebuild that Toronto could do: Level 1 - the 2025 retool. Trade Kikuchi and Jansen. Trade Yimi if healthy. Try to get out of Turner, KK money. Consider trading Bassitt if there is a taker. Then replace them all with new FA talent in the offseason. Level 2 - the Vlad/Bo bailout - Trade all of the above along with Vlad and Bo. The same general plan applies, try to replace everybody with FA talent over the next couple of years, but the odds of winning in 2025 probably go down a lot here with the tradeoff being getting some possible cornerstone prospects back for the big guys. Level 3 - scorched turf - do all of the above except for the FA reload. Get out of all big contracts, Guasman and Berrios are gone. Varsho gone. Kirk gone at some point. Pearson dumped. Consider trading some of the Buffalo guys even, if some other team really likes one of them. Some would be replaced with free agents but not all of them. Payroll takes a dive, luxury tax reset. Realistically no shot to compete for a couple of years.
  21. Unfortunately business considerations would prevent anything close to this from ever happening. They just did all the new renovations, a $300M investment that needs to be paid down. Need some players to market. Need some butts in the new seats. Need some people watching on TV.
  22. Strider is pretty boring. Two great pitches but it's like watching a closer throw bulk innings.
