  1. Pillar can get some CF time against LHP too, maybe. I think Pompey's swing looks a bit better from the left side. Shouldn't be a big problem getting Pillar playing time. It would be nice to have him purely as a reserve though, because I think he's a decent one.
  2. He's no Jason Grilli. I think they'll give Parnell the job when he comes back to keep Familia's salary down.
  3. So, hypothetically, in Butler's situation of being on first w/ one out when a line single goes to CF: a) Result = 1st and 2nd, 1 out = happens 50% of time = RE of 0.90 Result = 1st and 3rd, 1 out = happens 25% of time = RE of 1.20 c) Result = 1st, 2 out (runner thrown out at 3rd) = happens 25% of time = RE 0.20 Average weighted RE is 0.80 If Billy does a) then he gets +0.10 for that (raised RE a tiny bit by parking his fat ass) If Billy does c) then he gets -0.60 for that (nuked RE by being a dummy) And of course Billy never does B cuz Country Breakfast, but if Billy Hamilton did it then he'd get a +0.40. Frequencies and Run Expectancies are made up
  4. BsR is wSB + wGDP + UBR. The first two are self explanatory. In UBR a baserunner basically gets credit for the run value of what resulted vs. the average weighted run value of all baserunners in that situation (on 1B, single to CF with X outs). So staying at 2B is an event within the calculation of the "average weighted run value of all baserunners in that situation". So are advancing to 3B, and getting thrown out at 3B. I'm guessing that Butler holding at 2B would be very slightly negative but I'm not sure. Could basically be a 'zero' play. It's not neutral because there was no action, though.
  5. In his defense, cramps do suck. lol
  6. 98% of guys who blow their elbow out on the mound react less. Ventura crumbled like Joel Zumaya when his elbow blew up like a grenade
  7. You guys see Ventura's thumb cramp thing today? f***ing weird.
  8. Yovani Gallardo suxxxx pick 1 as a 2015 SP: Estrada Gallardo Weaver Hellickson
  9. yay baseball is back yay
  10. Snider has a couple of hits in orange, as well as a diving catch and an outfield assist at home. I will be crushed if Snider breaks out as another bird... f***
  11. Jered Weaver is currently testing the limits of what constitutes a viable major league arsenal. 81 mph fastballs getting classified as changeups by pitchFX. I think he's touching like, 84?
  12. So John Jaso lasted me exactly one PA
  13. Richard Griffin ‏@RGriffinStar 26s27 seconds ago Gregorius not making #yankees fans forget Jeter. He's caught stealing to end 8th with Castro's 1st P. Send the man a gift basket #bluejays lol Griff the best
  14. Hutch's slider really is a meal-ticket pitch. Change has come and gone today, as has the FB command, but he can always get called and swinging strikes with the slider.
  15. Yeah, Pineda also a big question mark, Betances' velocity a worry, a couple of veterans looking for bounce back offensive years (Headley and McCann). They have enough talent all things considered that it could work out, there are just so many possible holes or problems.
  16. Hutch has thrown a couple of changeups today with very nice action.
  17. arguably "done" veterans on New York: Beltran Rodriguez Tex Drew Sabathia
  18. That sucks. No reason in 2015 for a company like Rogers to not offer HD quality streaming...
  19. Pompey's approach is so damn good and impressive. Him and Travis look like veterans at the dish.
  20. Pompey's approach is so damn good. He's been like 10 combined feet from starting his 2015 with a 2B and HR off TANAK
