The Indians are proving that good pitching combined with a contact type offence can get it done. The live or die with the HR type offence will hopefully be a thing of the past after this season with Shapiro.

This the problem with the mentality with some of our hitters. We're down by two and have only two hits on the night, but with two strikes on them, both EE and Saunders didn't shorten up. Pat is right on that Saunders should have taken the free base by bunting up the third base line. Selfish baseball.

Saunders is a liability defensively, but a good bat. I think his future here hinders on what happens with EE and Bautista. If both are not signed, he may be offered something to primarily DH and play roughly 30 games in the field. He'd make a decent full time DH seeing that he can handle LHP. Shapiro will go after a real outfielder ( Reddick?)

Regardless that Sanchez had a good eighth, how can Gibby defend Sanchez not bunting? The only thing he can say is that he didn't want Sanchez running the bases in case of a failed FC bunt. The chances of that happening were low, so if he uses this lame excuse, the more reasoning for him to be getting a pink slip shoved up his ass.
