  1. Dumb comment, he's obviously saying to use the extra unused Semien money to improve the team in other ways. I do think all 3 of those things happening is unlikely though.
  2. My worry with Semien is that we end up with another 2017 scenario by 2026 where we’re paying Springer + Semien 50 million for replacement level production. Plus paying Vlad 30 mil and possibly other guys. Doesn’t leave much payroll flexibility. That’s worst case scenario IMO, but always in the back of my mind. Players normally just decline through their 30s and there’s nothing you can do. Though I suppose you could argue any long-term contract is risky.
  3. I’d do that for Ray. Semien unfortunately I think we should let go. Career year, he’s the wrong side of 30, and we have quite a few infielders coming up through the minors. Offense is still very good without him. It would also allow Biggio to go back to 2B (or we could make a run at someone like J Ram). I feel we also need to be wary of signing any more guys over 30 to long term 100+ million dollar deals. I’d rather invest extra money into pitching. If we need a 3B/2B maybe look at a stopgap type option.
  4. Im pretty sure he pours water over his head before he takes the mound
  5. If you remove the minimum innings pitched he’s #35 If you say one thing for Berrios, he seems to stay healthy. And that keeps his WAR total fairly high.
  6. Yup. He wouldn’t be an ace on any of the 30 teams. Still a good/great pitcher though. He’s more of a Buehrle type workhorse guy. Hopefully he pulls it together, his last 2 starts have been awful.
  7. Yes, I guess there is a different rule for balls vs other equipment because I know i’ve seen people forced to give bats back.
  8. We will, after we win the World Series with our new manager
  9. Why would you think that? Machado maybe, but Tatis seems like a good dude
  10. Huh, interesting. If he were to have TJs I think he’d be ready for opening next season. Isn’t the recovery time only a few months for non-pitchers??
  11. I’m quite certain that the fine print of your ticket purchase says that security can force you to give the ball back anyways since technically it isn’t your property. So the right move IMO would be to ask for a signed jersey/meet and greet which is normally seen as acceptable from all parties. Your only chance of keeping the ball would be to catch it and then run away basically. Hide somewhere and leave through the nearest gate before you’re caught.
  12. I was at the game the day before in the 100 lvl outfield seats and I was thinking about what I would do if I somehow caught his 500th.... i'd probably settle for meeting Miggy and getting a signed jersey from him.
  13. That contract is looking real bad. Obviously Lindor will be better than he has been, but im not sure he ever gets back to being more than a 115wRC+ type bat. Normally you don’t wanna pay guys like that 30 million a year for 10 years lol. Steve Cohen needs to realize he knows f*** all about baseball and he needs to let the team execs make decisions
  14. You’re also missing the fact that we can give them both the QO and that gives us major leverage to re-sign them. Also you said “if Ray liked his time in Toronto”... bro by that point Ray had never even played (or lived) in Toronto. Same with Semien.
  15. We’re also not the Yankees where every little kid always dreams of playing there. Its just not the same at all.
  16. “No such thing as luck” yadayada
  17. Brutal blown save and loss by Oakland
  18. The fact that we didn’t trade Semien and Ray and we can offer them the QO means we have a massive leg up on re-signing either of them. If we had traded them its more like a 0% chance they re-sign. I’d say there’s a very good chance we sign Ray to a new deal. Semien maybe
  19. Richards has been fairly good too. Those 4 arms should be enough but Charlie will still find ways to bring Brad Hand into a tie game.
  20. Well we kinda did too
  21. Yeah lol i’m pretty sure he tried to throw out Odor at 1st and that’s when he f***ed his shoulder. His arm robounded the next year though from what I remember
  22. Extremely frustrating season. Obviously you don’t expect Vlad to be this good next year, and its uncertain if Semien and/or Ray will be back. We’ve also had pretty great health from the starting rotation (minus Pearson if that even counts) and really Springer is the only impact position player that went down for an extended period of time. Bullpen injuries were pretty bad but expecting Merryweather and Yates to stay healthy was a huge gamble. Injuries can always derail a season but the good teams don’t use it as an excuse and power through it. Its gonna be tough to come out ahead next year even with an improved bullpen.
  23. Oh god I forgot about this one
