    Wouldn’t be making 30 million right off the bat, usually these deals are structured where they ramp up after the free agent years kick in. Also Ryu off the books after next year, Kikuchi the year after. Once Vlad’s salary goes up Springer will be nearing the end of his deal. The org could definitely do it.

    Have to think Vlad is still way overhyped because of his name and the fact he was a huge prospect. He 100% has not proven he is worth 300 million at this point. It would be a much safer play to wait things out if he wants more than 250 million. I feel the Riley contract is comparable to what Vlad is worth. Somewhere between 200-250. There’s no problem with waiting until he’s a free agent to get a better sense of his value. That said, this offseason is probably the best time to extend him if you think he’s likely to repeat his 2021 for several seasons over the next 10 years.

    Fine by me. If the price is gonna be astronomical anyways, why not just ride out his control until he’s a free agent

    I’d agree. Now… if they wait and he has another season like he did in 2021 then it’s definitely gotta be 300+

    Yeah that’s too high at this point IMO. Should be closer to what Austin Riley got. Vlad is younger but plays a worse position. I’d say around 250/10

    I said this about Springer like 3 or 4 times over the last couple seasons and he always proved me wrong… I think the 78wRC+ is probably just a slump tbh. He’s probably still a 100ish wRC+ bat even playing semi-injured

    There’s an offday in between ALDS game 1 and 2 so should have enough rest for whoever pitches WC game 1, to pitch ALDS game 2

    Has to be Stripling. Might see some funky/weird s*** though. Don’t forget about that playoff game in 2020. They went Shoemaker for 3 innings, pulled him even though he was cruising and then went to Robbie Ray out of the pen for a few innings. David Price out of the pen in the ALDS 2015 Could see a Berrios/Stripling piggyback start
