  1. But anyways the problem here is that its very easy to mix rosin + other stuff and get a very sticky substance. Rosin is considered legal. The best solution is to create a new ball like Japan has and don’t allow ANY substances. But then you still have the problem of sunscreen…
  2. Yeah its funny he was basically saying not a lot of guys did the rosin + other stuff because sometimes their hands got so sticky that the ball would peel off some skin when they threw it and he didn’t like that. He went on to say that if they realized how much spin rate = more effective pitches then he would have been doing it and everyone else probably would too.
  3. I was listening to this broadcast the video is from and David Cone said usually you don't wanna wash hands with water because it can make your hands soft/pruney and have a negative effect. Washing with alcohol seems pretty standard from what he was saying. But he also said alcohol "activates" the rosin more than sweat or sunscreen
  4. The problem is that Rosin is a legal substance, but the umpires can deem it illegal if your hands are “too sticky” which probably means different things for different umpires. They need an actual hardline point of acceptable vs too much. Also maybe don’t allow the use of alcohol? That should be easy enough to smell if a player has used it.
  5. Disclaimer: I did these stat checks on my phone but im planning to do a deeper dive on my desktop once I get home. What the Rays are doing is ridiculous
  6. This is the highest wRC+ a team has had through the month of april… Ever. I went and looked at the past 50+ years on fangraphs and the best team wRC+ through April was around 130ish, while the Rays have like 150ish right now. This is historic. And the Rays don’t really have an amazing lineup outside a few guys like Wander and Arozerena… im pretty convinced they’re cheating in some way. And yeah banking this many early wins pretty much guarantees they’ll win the division unless they have an epic collapse, which is unlikely to happen with their pitching being so solid.
  7. Rays win again
  8. Yeah he’s having much better at bats the past week or so and hitting the ball harder. Just no luck
  9. Yup this is more like what we were expecting. Now just need a couple guys in the bullpen to step up and prove that they can be relied on. Right now it’s looking like Romano, Swanson, and maybe Pop. Mayza in certain situations. Pearson should probably be up here too.
  10. Grant and Jonn +1 +1 Stangstag +2
  11. That was a gross inning but got the job done.
  12. Now its 5-0 so probably no Romano
  13. That was a slowww turn by the Yanks
  14. Hooo boy Danny is heating up
  15. Yall ready for Swanson-Cimber-Romano?
  16. Varsho heating up would be excellent
  17. Ooof what a f***ing rocket! Thanks Volpe
  18. Ok Chapman thanks for breaking this drought
  19. Yes. I believe he also qualifies for partial pension if he can stay rostered for 43 days
  20. This pitcher is actually ass, we’re just making him look good
  21. This is a putrid attempt by the offense, what the f***
