    Why are you assuming they didn’t??? Varsho isn’t exactly the “sexy” LHB option everyone was hoping for, he was probably the best they could get. I believe they were going hard after Nimmo. If they signed him then the Moreno trade likely never happens

    That’s fine, we don’t need to count on Kirk long term. Ride out his rookie contract and don’t extend him. But anyways he’s just not hitting like his previous years.

    Yet Guillermo Martinez and others on the coaching staff will continue to tell him “hit the ball up the middle, good things will happen”

    Kirk is a far better hitter than Moreno, he’s shown that he’s a great hitter. He’s just not hitting much this year and neither is Varsho, which is why the trade looks bad. If Kirk and Varsho are both hitting like they did in 2022 then people wouldn’t be complaining.
