  1. Seems like they’re planning to use Horwitz at 2B a fair amount
  2. Well that was a fun one. Our bullpen f***ing stinks this year
  3. I don’t see anyway to argue Biggio deserves a spot on the roster over Vogelbach. We have backups for all the IF positions already, Biggio is redundant. If the FO needs someone to bat 9th and watch strike 3 every at bat, i’ll do it for $1000 a game
  4. I really hate the inconsistencies with this FO. Won't play Horwitz in the OF because I guess he doesn't look good there??? But more than happy to promote Barger and have him play LF which he's never played before.
  5. Gladly take a split with the Os, but this team doesn’t inspire any confidence. Got absolutely blasted the first 2 games, and barely managed to squeak out these 2 wins. A win is a win at the EoD, but its hard to feel confident we could win against good teams when it matters.
  6. For Vlad, it feels to me like he has no approach. There’s too many times where he takes a straight fastball down the middle for strike 1. Or he’ll swing on a first pitch breaking ball way out of the zone and then watch a straight fastball down the middle the very next pitch. Other times he’ll roll over weakly on breaking ball down the middle. He’s just all over the place. I think he just kinda swings at anything and sometimes makes good contact like we saw today.
  7. And I do think its important to not just look at pull/oppo/centre rates as a whole, but to look at splits between flyballs/liners/grounders too
  8. Specifically on Chapman, his pull rate on flyballs was WAY down in 2023. Just check out these numbers: https://imgur.com/a/RYlcSaH https://www.fangraphs.com/players/matt-chapman/16505/splits?season=0&position=3B&split=3.2 Pull rate is abysmal, and the Centre rate of 45% easily explains why he missed out on a s*** ton of homers. If we continue to look at flyball rates, Springer's page is similar... though his is weird in that he seemed to go oppo more in his younger years, then when he came to the Jays he had a very high pull rate between 2021-2022 before going back to his early career splits. Vlad is a hard one to figure out, but his centre% was closer to the 40% he was sporting in 2019-2020 vs his good years in 2021-2022. Anyways you could do a full analysis and dive much deeper into this, I just find it extremely difficult to pass off as a coincidence that most of our guys started pulling the ball less all at the same time.
  9. Was he talking about his ex wife or something??
  10. That is true, but you can't really deny that MOST of the hitters changed their approach in 2023, including Matt Chapman. He used to be a dead pull guy and started hitting oppo for some reason (which worked for 1 month). 90% of our lineup started going oppo/CF way more often than they ever did before.
  11. I really didn't like bringing back KK. Like you say, we got the best possible outcome in 2023 and we had to pay MORE for him this year, when we knew we needed more offense
  12. Remember when Pete Alonso accused MLB of altering the balls year to year?? MLB using dead balls for this upcoming FA class would make sense.... some big names like Bregman, Soto, Alonso, Goldy, Bellinger, etc.
  13. Yes. I think he got too cute trying to get "ahead of the curve" and it has backfired immensely.
  14. I keep trying to say its an organizational/coaching issue, and people keep saying im wrong and dumb. IMO its no coincidence the entire chemistry/attitude/approach of the offense changed completely from 2022 to 2023, the same year the shift ban started. The same offseason they started talking about having a more “well-rounded” offense.
  15. Nah he would’ve been safe. A good throw would have got him though. It was a gamble they probably should’ve taken
  16. Also Varsho’s homer in Detroit to complete the comeback, though they did end up losing.
  17. I always thought Varsho looked weird throwing the ball too. Odd arm action
  18. Schneider has to pull dat ball more. 2 warning track outs to L/CF so far
  19. Brutal luck that inning lol. This team can’t catch a break
  20. Yeah lame. He's confident in IKF but not confident enough that he'll place a bet that IKF will meet his projections. Softie.
