This is literally all wrong. You use your best pitchers in the highest leverage situations you can. Bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th in a tie game is much higher leverage than your average save opp in extra innings. Don't go quoting "Math" when you clearly haven't done it or read any research on the matter. -

The season isn't over but the horrendous start will be VERY hard to overcome. You can't undo those games and just because we had a far worse than expected stretch, it does not entitle us to a far better than expected stretch to compensate. That's the gambler's fallacy and it's fundamentally NOT how this works. Baseball Prospectus has us at 5% to make the playoffs, 3% to make the divisional round. They're more bearish on the team's underlying true talent level than most projection systems but no matter how you slice it, we're not better than a 1 in 10 shot of making the playoffs. That is the unfortunate truth of the situation.

Gord Miller is a terrible play by play guy. He doesn't say that many stupid things but he's pretty irritating to listen to. How he has the #1 job for TSN is jut baffling to me.

Have you seen his routes to fly balls? The Ringling Brothers have more interest in his OF skills than any rational MLB front office.
