  1. I know using 30 as the average age for the first year of FA is just a quick heuristic that you used (understandable that you would too given the grossness in figuring out service time stuff for each player) but did you find that 30 was in fact the average age? Even if you did, I think there's a slight problem with that. The players who reach free agency earlier are, by in large, the better prospects. So having a few of their prime years in the sample might skew things significantly. I apologize if you answered these questions in the article as I skimmed it really quick. That was just an initial thought from reading about a paragraph and looking at the results. Cool/important article topic though.

Not too surprising as he was probably their best player the last 3 years. (I'm saying that off the cuff without looking anything up). #carlyled
  3. You use a domain where statistical analysis is nearly irrelevant as a piece of evidence attempt to prove your superior knowledge. That was the wrong strategy. You also never specify what you think is wrong with WAR and current analytic methods other than saying that they're wrong. You haven't forwarded one original, intelligent idea. I've asked you for your comments on some of the Bayesian hierarchical modeling going on at the leading edge of hockey analytics. Said request was met with silence. In addition to thinking you act like a complete dick bag on here, I also happen to think you're completely full of s***.

  6. Douchey but completely alpha.
  7. Just turned 71 actually. But he doesn't look a day over 75!
  8. "If he stays healthy" is not really a useful qualifier when determining pitcher value going forward.
  9. FieldFx officially a failure now. Trackman rules the world.
  10. The good news is that losing Jansen for the season would barely downgrade our projected win total. The bad news is that AA doesn't realize that, would panic and do something like trade Stroman for Glen Perkins.
  11. "Nothing to worry about" and shoulder soreness do not belong in the same sentence.
  12. So the $10 shield I spent on Wacha seems to have worked perfectly.
  13. Says the guy who didn't take him for free in the expansion draft.

  17. Bayesian techniques (a key piece to the core of machine learning) are more the now than the future for the actual smart teams.
  18. Either Davidi or the Blue Jays don't know what computer AI is. Or neither, I suppose.

  22. Why are 100 games meaningful? Are 80 meaningful? How about 63 or 37? When does it become meaningful? How do you determine this? Explain exactly what you mean here because it really just seems like you've decided arbitrarily that 100 games is statistically significant.
  23. Yours as well. Glad to see that The Dogg hasn't hunted you down and made a skin suit out of you since your move to the Big Smoke.
