Exactly why I would love the chance to trade him. Again, I don't think that's a likely scenario as the league as a whole seems to be valuing RBs correctly.

Is this a plot to get McDavid? If so, well played Nonis. Edit: I'm sure I'm about the millionth person to make that joke this afternoon. I'll show myself out.

I would trade him in a second if the right deal came up. I doubt there's much of a market though. As a Vikings fan, he's been an absolute joy to watch but I have no interest witnessing his decline years on my TV for the next 3 or 4 seasons.

Yea, it's tough. Has to be the most difficult position in all of sports. But I hated the Ponder pick from day 1.

CHP is so happy right now.

Can't wait until the Vikings take Bortles to replace Ponder to continue the perpetual cycle of below average QB play.

Probably not the link you meant to post.
  8. At least a 50% chance he gets moved. But if he goes to AA and does what Sano did there last year, there's at least a possibility that I'd squeeze him into my last spot.
  9. Do I like Gallo because I have him? Or do have Gallo because I like him? That said, I agree that he's not a centerpiece in a big deal at this point.
  10. Completely writing off a hitter whose 100% better than average at a level appropriate age is not really good policy, even with the Ks. He obviously has a high bust rate but he's a legitimate fantasy prospect.

Good to see you're over the inevitable Leafs' collapse.
  12. Sure he could turn into Gio. I just wouldn't bet on it.
  13. If Sanchez doesn't improve his command, he's a #5 or swing guy. Nothing more.
  14. True, if he wants 2014 stuff Lahman isn't much help. By not much I mean 0.
  15. The Balfour signing was terrible. Won't begin to defend that. Neither will others will knowledge of that situation. Cutting Balfour today would be completely justifiable if they faced some sort of roster crunch. Like I said before, you don't have to try too hard to find a 3.9 ERA/FIP/Whatever reliever for league min.
  16. Lahman database may be of interest as well.
  17. If a veteran, replacement level reliever shows a month of slightly reduced velo combined with terrible results, I don't know why you wouldn't release him. Even the half tick of velo down aside, I'm not even sure why you wouldn't release him. With public information, he projects to add no value going forward. Their internal reports and projections must agree. This was never a reclamation project.
  18. That deal was always about Hannigan. After seeing that Bell has lost 2 ticks on his fastball this year you don't project him as a slightly above replacement level reliever anymore. Because of that, he was cut to clear a roster spot. Not sure what is at all surprising/controversial about this.

Some similar work (Frag has probably seen it): http://www.behindthenet.ca/projecting_to_nhl.php We need some non goal based metrics for junior level players to do a better job here.
  20. Yah, he could be a shitbag still and I'm being fooled. Certainly possible. But his last 20+ minor league starts have been solid and he's added new pitches to his repertoire since his early MLB days. He's got slightly plus velo for a starter and he's missing enough bats to make you think he's pretty ok. Steamer has him at a 3.87 FIP rest of season (with 15 starts). Even after park effects, that's a nice starter. Numbers aside, I watched that last start of his against the Angels and he did look pretty filthy. Fastball firm enough with life, seconary pitches moving everywhere and a really free and easy motion. I know that's just one start and all but I feel like if a scout were to see that game with no knowledge of Jesse Chavez reports or numbers they would say he's at least a league avg starter.
  21. Greenwood's 3 WAR number is probably high but on a per inning basis I think he's at least a league average starter.
  22. Gardy knew best all along.
  23. Twins down 2 in the bottom of the 9th, get the first 2 aboard and then Gardy orders up a sac bunt. Obviously popped up for out 1. Terrible in game manager.
  24. This is funny.
