I did pretty well in the MiLB drafts and sold pretty much every draft pick and prospect I had. Functionally, I traded Buxton for Sale and Price. It also helps that I hit a grand slam on the Davis pick, and had the #4 overall pick (Miggy).
Does anyone else make imaginary lineups for their fantasy team?
2B Carpenter
LF Craig
3B Miggy
1B Crush
DH Ortiz
SS Desmond
C Gattis
RF Torii
CF Gardner
I probably sketch these out in a notepad on a weekly basis like a total f***ing loser.
150 wRC+ from a 23 year old is outstanding. And I'll probably get ripped for this, but hes goes to provide a about 1000 RBI over the next decade; that matters in fantasy.
That did play into my consideration, certainly, but I think Freddie is going to provide OBP and counting stats for a long time. Somewhere between Overbay and Morneau.
I like Freeman, but I knew I was getting Ortiz to replace him. I think Ortiz gives me a better 2014 line.
Yeah... I'm a bit embarassed by that rotation lol, but I don't intend to keep them all. Shields, Ryu, Medlen, Beachy and Archer are all available for a CF/OF upgrade.
George Costanza: To think I’d fail at failing.
Jerry Seinfeld: Oh come on.
George Costanza: I can’t do anything wrong.
Jerry Seinfeld: Nonsense. You do everything wrong.
George Costanza: You think so?
Jerry Seinfeld: Absolutely. I have no confidence in you.
George Costanza: Well, I guess I’ll have to pick myself up, dust myself up, and throw myself right back down again!
Jerry Seinfeld: That’s the spirit! You suck.
After Abreu and Tanaka, I'm not sure there will be much. There's Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and Alex Guerrero, but there's no guarantee either will fall to 5. Knowing Hurl, he probably has someone in mind (or maybe he's looking to trade up again from 5?).
I actually think it's going to be a pretty weak MiLB draft beyond Rodon, but I guess we'll see.
That's about what I expect too, ~25 HR and .360-.370 wOBA. That's the consistent producer Morneau should have been, with the MVP season being a career year. I do think Freddie will pop out a couple 30 HR campaigns though.
I think I value Davis slightly more, because I believe he'll continue to be a 35-40 HR hitter. Plus he'll probably sign with the Yankees next year and hit 80 HR with that porch. If we redrafted today, I think Davis is a late 1st round pick, I see Freddie more in the 2nd-3rd round range. Although it's crazy to think how young Freeman is, considering how good of a hitter he already is. I think he'll be what Justin Morneau could have been.
Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Ubaldo Jimenez has asked for a four-year contract worth $17-20 million per season.
Hoynes says it's the "last thing (he) heard," so Jimenez could have dropped his asking price since then. It's possible Ubaldo get somewhere close to the shallow end of that demand, but $20 million per season would be a stretch. As Hoynes notes, Jimenez's asking price will be too much for Cleveland. The Yankees have been mentioned as a possible landing spot, and Hoynes lists the Blue Jays and D'Backs as potential destinations, as well.

Yuck.
