I wouldn't say he's really good. He's good enough, he's adequate. He's above replacement level but he's also been far worse in recent memory. He's 36 and probably looking at a 3.80 ERA/FIP and an OBPA over .300. The K/BB is solid.
There's playing time at the corner OF spots and time at 1B/DH. An injury to any one of Ortiz, Napoli, Betts, Sandoval, Hanley, or Bogaerts thrusts him into a full-time opportunity. More to the point, he'll play if he hits.
You fools are all missing the buy-low opportunity. I would be interested in FC, but my OF and 1B/DH are crowded. This is a guy who had a .375 wOBA the previous two seasons. There's literally no way he's as bad as he was in 2014.
