  1. I don't regret the Price or Tulo trades even for a second. Norris has yet to demonstrate that he's anything more than a replacement level starter, while Price was a substantial upgrade for our spot on the win curve and carried us to within a pube of the world series. The Tulo trade was just a plain heist.
  2. Jose can't win. He's getting asked about contract extensions probably every day. Would you rather he lied and created unrealistic expectations that he will re-sign? The Jays have paid Bautista $56M on this extension so far and have collected 18.1 WAR for their money, or a staggeringly juicy $3M/WAR. That's less than half of market value over the course of the deal. Even if Bautista didn't play a game this year, we'd still have made a killing on that contract ($3.8M/WAR vs somewhere between $6-8M/WAR @ market rate). Pay the man or else let someone else do it. He's earned it.
  3. The Dickey trade is the only time we really got burned trading prospects, and yes it was bad. It's kind of hilarious how badly out of proportion it gets blown, while the equally rapey Donaldson trade gets completely filed under "what have you done for me this week?"
  4. I agree, AA just acquired way too many players worth $20M AAV. Goddamn him and his fiendish ways. Didn't he realize that we'd want to re-sign EE and JB in their mid-30s? Didn't he realize that his extremely team-friendly contract extensions for both would create totally unrealistic salary expectations in the minds of naive fans? Did he even consider these things at all while trading fungible prospects for MVP candidates like Tulo and JD? It's like he had zero foresight whatsoever!
  5. Yes, it's so awful that we have 3 of the Top 20 hitters in MLB and an ALCS run. God DAMN you, Anthopoulos!
  6. That's a bit hardline but overall fair. Even if nothing comes to fruition now, we can wait see what the market is for him as it develops. He is a very elite hitter but I can't see any teams going beyond 4 years for him, so we could easily get back in the negotiations next offseason.
  7. Yep. Anybody who has ever been paid below market value for several years would know how obviously enticing it is to finally get paid what you're worth. It was a great extension for us, and realistically this is Jose's last big nut before he retires. Of course he's going to take maximum dollar value, this is his financial windfall that he'll live on for the rest of his life and leave as a legacy for his family. You'd have to be a real ******* to begrudge him that after all he's given us.
  8. I'm not sure abs are a good thing for a pitcher. It always seems like the leanest pitchers are more prone to injury, maybe a bit of fat is a good thing for durability.
  9. Twink status revoked.
  10. No offence, but that's one of the dumbest trade proposals I've ever read. Bruce has negative trade value. To even trade Alford alone for him would be a firable decision.
  11. This is a bit of an odd decision. Normally you implement a leg kick if you want to sell out for pull power, but Tulo has never had a problem with that. It could end up just screwing him up against offspeed stuff.
  12. I never even heard of him until a couple months ago. His numbers compare favorably to Cespedes and Puig. I doubt he's as good as Abreu. He's very intriguing though.
  13. God I really hope you don't get Gourriel. That would really stick in my craw.
  14. Use some f***ing punctuation; you're not njh and you never will be.
  15. He of all people should consider it a Festivus Miracle.
  16. Jk I know you were busy with your bat mitzvah.
  17. It's kinda weird that Yahoo would default to giving the laziest motherf***er the #1 waiver.
  18. Yeah, even 2 is questionable unless you really like Sierra for some reason. Little Gourriel is probably headed for the minors and might not even be eligible to be taken on waivers if we're using DDL rules.
  19. f*** no. I am praying hard to RNGesus.
  20. 4 won't get you s***, and keep in mind waiver priority doesn't carry over from season to season. Join the re-roll mob.
  21. Stealing the #1 waiver away from GD in this manner seems apropos.
  22. Ok but how do you know that? When did this happen? Why would we trust Yahoo with this task when we have generated everything else using a third-party? This is kind of a high stakes moment, we could just be gifting GD an all-star talent with no real reason or process.
