  1. Because Grant loves to quibble about everything until people get exasperated and give up the point.
  2. The White Sox asked for Mazara, Gallo AND Profar for Sale. So no, we do not have the pieces.
  3. Alford is ranked 37th on MLB.com. Top 50 is it.
  4. Ok let's make a bet. If Beltran gets traded for any prospect that made a Top 50 on a midseason list (MLB.com, BA, BP, Law), I'll make "Grant was right and I was wrong" my signature for a month. If not, you change yours to a sig of my choosing. If the Yankees include other pieces in the deal or he doesn't get traded, bet is off.
  5. Yep, first time Edwin, JB, Tulo, Saunders and Travis have been healthy simultaneously.
  6. That lineup is sick and nasty. Hopefully we can actually keep it intact the rest of the way.
  7. Ben Zobrist plays multiple premium positions, while Beltran is a designated hitter who struggles to play a corner outfield spot. I'm not sure why you think those are comparable, when that should intuitively tell you that Beltran's list of potential suitors is much, much shorter. Also, Alford was a Top 50 prospect coming into the season, so I don't know why you suppose Manaea is a better prospect either.
  8. No team is giving up that much for Beltran, which seems to be the overarching point that you're missing.
  9. Ahh damn you, Garrett was at the top of my remaining list. I'll take Forrest Whitley.
  10. 83 King 84 Frenchsoup 85 L54
  11. Plus Miller? Like he's a throw-in? Miller alone is vastly more valuable on the trade market than Beltran and yes, could return those types of prospects.
  12. The only way the Indians would top that would be with Zimmer or Frazier, and no chance do I think they would do that. Same with the Rangers and Brinson. No team should be giving up a Top 50 prospect for 10 weeks of Carlos Beltran.
  13. Lol there's no way the Yankees would turn that down.
  14. And if you were stat-scouting, you probably would have thought Brandon Wood was going to be a Hall of Famer. No method is fool proof, sometimes skillsets evolve, and sometimes a swing just doesn't work against MLB pitchers. In Matt Bush's case, the skill was always there, it was his makeup that was his downfall.
  15. You really don't want to go down a rabbit-hole of stat-scouting, it usually doesn't end well. The simple truth is that at that age, the how (skills) matters more than the what (results). Lake was never an elite prospect that I can recall, he might have snuck his way onto the back half of a Top 100 somewhere. Scouts are right more often than not, which is why scouting is still the pre-eminent method of talent evaluation. Statistical analysis has it's value, but if you don't know how a player is achieving his results, then you don't know if they are going to be repeatable against better competition as he moves up.
  16. It's scouting.
  17. Better hitter, more power, more speed, better BB rate, younger. For a 19 year old to have a 122 wRC+ in A+ is really good.
  18. It hardly makes a difference; Miller & Betances is still the best backend bullpen in baseball even without Chapman. The Yankees still need to get a lead to the late innings first.
  19. Ugh... totally got sniped on Alfaro. I was deciding between him and Newman at my last pick. Opted for Newman since I already own Alfaro x2.
  20. This draft is already going at a snail's pace, might as well just get on with it.
  21. That's up to Chapman and his agent. The Cubs are an incredible team, so if they offer to pay him market value, I don't see why he wouldn't consider it.
  22. Great trade for the Yankees, long-term.
  23. Torres alone blows the Yankee package out of the water.
