You own him on your minor league roster. In order to promote him, you need to add him. The only reason we ever bypass this with commish powers is while processing a trade that would otherwise cause roster problems.
It's kind of ironic that after several years of dismissing ERA out of hand, your season is riding on the back of a guy who's ERA is vastly outperforming his DIPS. He's having an unreal season, you hit a grand slam with that pick.
The Danny Valencia situation is so weird. Word out of Oakland yesterday was that they're going to release him any time now... then he starts last night and gets two hits. The guy is slashing .291/.347/.461 and they couldn't get anything for him at the deadline or in August.
