  1. Any of those candidates would be excellent.
  2. Danny Jansen, C, Toronto AL (Profile) Level: Triple-A Age: 22 Org Rank: NR Top 100: NR Line: 4-for-4, 2 HR, 3B Notes Jansen hadn’t played much before this year, never exceeding more than 57 games in a single season until this one. He also hasn’t hit. Jansen hit .218 last year and .210 the year before and while his peripherals have been intriguing (Chris Mitchell had him as one of KATOH’s sleeper’s), Jansen was relatively unimpressive in his 2017 Fall League stint, showing what I evaluated as fringe bat speed and a swing path that would limit the amount of impact contact he’d make. This year, he’s been incredible, hitting .341/.418/.516 across three levels while striking out in less then 10% of his plate appearances. If there’s been a mechanical change, it’s subtle as all I’ve gotten from scouts with a history scouting Jansen is that his leg kick is a bit bigger and more exaggerated this season. Jansen is a solid defensive catcher, an average receiver with an average arm and a good ground game.
  3. Multiple Danny Jansen questions in Logenhagen's chat today. I'd post a link, but I assume the people asking those questions are already in this thread.
  4. Just say whatever to get him signed and then gradually pull the rug out from under him. He's going to have to run like a 120 wRC+ to get consistent non-pitcher ABs anyway.
  5. He would have very little value as a hitter who only bats every 5 days and probably isn't a league-destroyer.
  6. And they're going to change the whole UI so you can drag a pitcher into a hitter's spot? I think they'll just make him a pitcher.
  7. His ceiling is probably something like average regular, just don't go getting your hopes up. He could be a useful player but it's very unlikely that he's anything more than that.
  8. You waited too long and all those chips are shite.
  9. Because this board is stat-scouting and fapping all over him, but it doesn't appear that anybody in the industry thinks he's that significant of a prospect.
  10. He will absolutely not.
  11. You guys are real touchy about the labe
  12. Is he throwing strikes with his slider? Maybe they're all spitting on it now.
  13. AA San Antonio Missions are in the playoff hunt whereas the A+ Lake Elsinore Storm are in last place. Maybe they wanted to promote him while also giving him a taste of some minor league playoffs?
  14. Lol you are f***ed, my friend. Me and z3r0s are right there fighting for 4th and 8th with cushy schedules for the last two weeks.
  15. There is a difference between physical fitness and athleticism. Fitness is how muscular and lean you are -- Moncada is an incredible physical specimen. Athleticism is an aptitude for sports and the ability to self-improve in athletic endeavors, and Moncada may be overrated in this regard. I feel like these ideas are too often used interchangeably. Devers might be a better athlete than Moncada despite being pudgy, his baseball acumen is prodigious. Meanwhile, you could have a chiseled monster like Khris Davis who is just dogshit defensively and can't throw a ball through tissue paper, is he athletic? I would argue not.
  16. Nope, although I won't go digging for the source, I read an article maybe like 2 years ago where AA asked Vladdy what position he wanted to play. Probably one of the concessions we had to make to get him signed.
  17. No, that would be Rafael Devers.
  18. Yeah I see him as a 4 corner guy for a few years in MLB. It will depend on how beefy he gets, but I think he'll be versatile (while not really excelling at any of those positions except maybe 1B).
  19. Yep, although it's not like they promised he could play 3B forever. They wanted to make his transition to pro ball as comfortable as possible, and I guess they figured he could either hack it there or he'd play himself off it eventually.
