  1. Just as long as you know that Willie Calhoun will never play a major league game at 2B.
  2. He won't, thankfully. He'll be 4.00/4.00/4.00 again this time next year.
  3. Could probably have gotten a Top 25 prospect for Nelson if properly advertised. He's better than Godley, for example.
  4. No, I mean why are we trading a 28 year old SP2 to silvergun for a s***** late 1st round pick. This is borderline infuriating. Ivan Nova is replacement level garbage.
  5. OMG I can't believe you traded Moncada without consulting me. Dead to me.
  6. I can't believe Justin Smoak has 31 HR and .405 wOBA on Aug 1. Baseball is f***ed.
  7. Most of the buyers already have loaded OF/DH spots and I doubt anyone is going to make it worth jaysblue's while.
  8. Probably just looking to cash out an ancient slugger before he declines beyond any trade value. Miguel Cabrera and Jose Bautista became league average hitters overnight.
  9. I would like to acquire Buster Posey. Sound good?
  10. I'm surprised NJH didn't make that buy now that Cueto has 18 blisters and needs Tommy John.
  11. Boxy, why aren't you using your DL slots? You have 4 DL guys on the bench and none of them are in DL slots.
  12. It's nice that we have a front office in place that is pragmatic enough to sell pieces at this juncture and has the ingenuity to leverage our financial power to get better returns.
  13. Yandy Diaz maybe? Could be a fit, although that might be aiming high.
  14. The Yankees must be ecstatic to get Sonny without giving up Adams, Sheffield, or Florial. Obviously, Gleyber and Frazier were never on the table. Mateo was expendable and is probably more of a Peraza type, Fowler is a 2nd division OF or 4th type, and Kaprelian is injured.
  15. You might actually be able to get something for Liriano now as a possibly interesting SP-eligible reliever.
  16. Oh... sorry... I thought it was fairly clear that I'm tanking the rest of the season for a higher pick.
  17. I think we've pretty much seen the end of Liriano as a starter, except possibly a spot starter. The Astros appear to have acquired him as a left reliever, which is a role he could really succeed in.
  18. Not a bad use of resources. This is payroll that has to be spent this year and international signing season is over, so it's not like that money can be reallocated in that way. If you have a choice between spending $5M on Liriano for the rest of the year in a write-off season or kicking in an extra $2M to get an actual prospect like Hernandez, I'll take the prospect. It's sunk money either way.
  19. I think it's more like $7.5M remaining ROS ($13M Liriano + $5.5M Aoki x 0.4 of a season) between the two of them. That should buy a non-garbage prospect, yes.
  20. We are probably eating Liriano's salary and taking on Aoki's to get the prospect.
  21. A.J. Reed's trade value has tanked completely, that's the only reason I mention him. A 1B-only guy putting up a 110 wRC+ in AAA is not a core asset and could realistically be an org guy if he doesn't turn it around soon.
