- Solarte & Diaz are fat and both suck
- Aaron Judge hits fewer than 30 HR
- Luis Severino needs TJS
- Josh Donaldson misses 50+ games and gets less than $100M in free agency; does not re-sign with Jays
- Vlad Jr "disappoints" in AA with a sub.-800 OPS and eats himself off 3B
- Jays finish at exactly .500 and make no meaningful trades in either direction at the deadline
I read so many articles out of NY in February talking about how the 2B job was Gleyber Torres' to lose... and I just wondered what those writers were smoking, and if they'd ever watched a baseball season before.
At the very least the Jays needs to manipulate Alford's service time. Keep him down for the requisite two-ish weeks plus however much MLB service time he accrued last season, get the extra year of control. There's really no rush anyway at this point, the odds of him being the difference between the team being competitive or not are nil. Frankly I'd keep him in AAA most of the year unless he is absolutely demolishing it and we desperately need an OF.
The Cubs also have a shockingly poor track record of developing pitchers under Epstein. With the exception of Hendricks, every starting pitcher under his tenure has been acquired externally.
Technically the window would have started before midnight anyway, not that it really matters with the kind of players available. A lot of these guys will be cut before the season even starts.
I'm intending to do the same in BORED, but I'm still going to use all of my waiver draft picks. You never know who might get hurt or emerge, better to keep those spots free until the real games start. Hurl is old and lazy though, so I get it.
You have to think Josh Donaldson is sweating just a little bit right now. Even if he has an MVP season, he's not going to hit the pay day he's dreaming on.
