  1. Even though I do not know the facts as to what was being asked for at the trade-deadline, the information coming out now makes this situation really ridiculous. The bottom line is a huge opportunity was presented to the FO this season and they came up short - now that's both sad and truly embarrassing!
  2. Seems like you have even bigger issues than I imagined. Have fun in the IR.
  3. He is still young and learning but the quality of his stuff is evident - he should do well going forward.
  4. It could also be that there were not too many opportunities for whining - In lost games every error/miscue is accompanied by multiple rage posts. Whatever was the cause the GDT are so much more pleasant without all the name-calling/venting.
  5. Excellent game by the Jays - Just what the fans needed.
  6. Replay works fine thanks. It just needs a little tweaking and that should happen before next season - If the manager comes out it should be seen as a challenge and not waste any time like they do presently.
  7. It is really a huge challenge playing against the Os without all of the regulars. Anyway, I can only hope this GDT does not follow the norm cuz it sure is hard being in here with all the whining and crying. It amazes me that adults cannot understand that the Jays are at a disadvantage and are not purposely throwing games. It is also true that what took place recently was pathetic however they behave like babies who must win every night. Hope Hutchison finds his stuff early so as to keep the game in hand and that the "O" and "D" show up tonight as well. It would be nice to be able to sit back and enjoy an easy one for a change.
  8. Just for future reference - You can always copy and paste the phrase into google and prefix the phrase with the word "translate". It will generally give you a good idea what he is saying.
  9. You would think the hitters should know where they are supposed to run by now. That was tough.
  10. Just looking at the contents of the posts pretty much paints the picture - has an axe to grind, has a chip on his shoulder, most probably has either been banned before or is using an alternate account too vent/troll, does not come across as a BlueJay fan, and is definitely trying to incite some sort of negative feedback. Just my opinion.
  11. The link you provided earlier does mention a player offering to give up a portion of his salary to keep another player on the team so it is not something new even though the association declined the suggestion at that time. http://www.torontosun.com/2014/04/05/blue-jays-players-wanted-to-defer-portions-of-salary-to-try-to-sign-santana
  12. When you approach your boss for a raise or even for him to take on additional staff does he set up an appointment with you to go over the company's financial position so you can have a better idea that it might not be a good idea? If so, tell me who you work for cuz that's one special company. The information I believe you have is (1) the players made the offer and (2) it was presented to the players union. Why did the players make that offer? Did they hear from the FO that there was no money or did that filter down to them thru the media/blogs/forums/social media? Did Anthopoulos have a discussion with Bautista and/or other Jays players to brainstorm a solution and this came up? Who presented it to the players union? Was it the FO or the players? If it was the FO, could they be seeing this as a good way to stretch their budget in that they may still have more available money down the road? I guess I am too skeptical so I like to see confirmation by identifiable sources rather than these blowhards who need to stir crap up all the time with false information.
  13. Thanks for the links. I don't want to keep harping on the same thing over and over cuz I do not have concrete evidence to support my point either. Sportsnet: Shi Davidi does not state how he came up with the fact that the BlueJays couldn't come up with the money other than saying it came from multiple sources. He most probably had confirmation from the players identified that they were willing to defer part of their salary so that Santana could be signed however when Anthopoulos was pressed for clarification surrounding Santana's situation Anthopoulos simply stated that he had an agreement in place and how it was being structured was irrelevant. Snot-nosed Davidi then gets his panties in a knot and say the need to borrow money from players against future payroll leaves all to wonder why he wasn't able to raise money on his own. Anthopoulos had no reason to go off on a tangent to clarify his strategy so that was his way of shutting it down. Davidi then goes on by throwing figures around but fleetingly mentioning that Anthopoulos spent the winter trying to make other deals (Kinsler/Anderson) which fell through. He was not able to confirm the deals fell through cuz of payroll which would have gone a long way in supporting his article. Toronto Sun: What can really be said about Elliott? He is regurgitating information second hand - Reyes confirmed Rosenthal's story that some Jays players had discussion about deferring portions of their salaries (nobody really disputes this took place). Then he throws this little tidbit into the flames "Word in the corporate hallways is that there may be more money coming the Jays way at the trade-deadline if they happen to be factors (some will currently see this as relevant) but not before the team shows what it can do with the 10th highest payroll (limping through to the deadline with lot of injuries yet still in the thick of things could be a sign to show management what the team is capable of doing). Nothing in his article supports the Jays not having money for additional payroll. TSN: Another spin off of Rosenthal's story but this time however embellished with the MLBPA's involvement by another unknown source - "Everyone had signed off, it was already done". Then he goes on to state "According to the Associated Press... but it is unknown if the team is willing to take on more salary if the need were to arise." REALLY? Does he even know which side of the fence he should be sitting on? We can go over multiple links and still not have concrete evidence that Rogers does not have, or is not willing to spend additional, money so let's drop this till there is something stating otherwise by a knowledgeable source. If it was tl;dr then don't waste time saying so.
  14. If you do not know the reason they suggested it then you really don't have a case to use it to bolster a point of view. Maybe they also got caught up in the "Rogers don't have money to spend" hype and out of desperation made that offer. Until someone can provide a source showing that they came up with that reason because of communications with the FO about Rogers financial position then I will not buy into that. Clearly there is a lot of speculation with no concrete evidence to show otherwise.
  15. I must have missed that article. Can you show the link please?
  16. ... and BoSox will not be giving up Lester for too little either. The only way I can see the Jays doing anything is if they can get him extended and that does not look likely either.
  17. Right about what exactly?
  18. Anthopoulos has said on many occasions that payroll will be available if the right player is available. In Lott's article Anthopoulos tried to phrase it differently - "When asked recently if he could add payroll, Anthopoulos said he could add players, and players make money, so there. (“No one plays for free,” he added, just to erase any ambiguity). Some individuals seem unable to get what he is saying unless they are hit over the head with a hammer. Also, since when does the absence of evidence solidifies a point/case? The GM needs to keep his strategy under wraps or else he will be at a terrible disadvantage in negotiations/trades. I do not understand why fans/reporters cannot recognize this point. Pissant fans/beat reporters are always trying to put the GM on the spot so they can come across as news-breakers and when the GM is closed-lipped they spew speculation as if it were fact.
  19. He wrote a lot without verifying anything. The article is flawed badly - How does this even hint at Rogers not willing to add to payroll? "Based on public statements by general manager Alex Anthopoulos and the baseball rumour mill, the Jays cannot add significant salary unless they unload a similar amount. Granted, Anthopoulos has not said that. In fact, he has been careful not to say that." There are many instances where he is saying things which do not validate Rogers unwillingness to spend more money. He goes on with this contradictory nonsense such as this: "Based on public statements by general manager Alex Anthopoulos and the baseball rumour mill, the Jays cannot add significant salary unless they unload a similar amount. Granted, Anthopoulos has not said that. In fact, he has been careful not to say that." That was definitely a disappointing piece of writing since it is all speculation based on misinterpretations.
  20. This was such a huge double play. He gives 100% effort on the field and he has such a big personality. I wish him success and hopefully he finds a team to start him as a regular.
  21. Nail-biting, definitely entertaining and it capped the series win.
  22. Karma. He most probably is jumping up and down in joy but he cannot show his face here cuz he has been behaving like a fool all day long.
