I am pretty confident people in baseball know you can be tossed for arguing with the ump on strikes/balls. It is one thing to ask the ump if that pitch was not too far outside/inside or too low/high or whatever but after being told it was a strike what do you think is taking place if the hitter continues talking about it? Isn't the player telling the ump that his call is not right? In other words, arguing about calls based in balls/strikes? Isn't there consequences for this listed in the rule book? Some umps are more lenient with this type of behaviour but you cannot blame an ump for following the rules when a player is overstepping the boundary.
