True enough, and it's just a fun guessing game on the internet so I'm not trying to scold you or anything. I think you're right in that no one saw Porcello taking it (or Hendricks being so close either in the NL) so it's a fair point. I do find it interesting that I've noticed how varied the AL guesses have been compared to the NL when you realize how kinda homogenous the AL is. Top talent is in the NL, though, is insane. Kershaw, Scherzer, Thor, Lester, Bumgarner, Arrieta, Hendricks, Cueto, Strasburg, and even up and coming dudes like Glasgow and Urias. Crazy.

I'm not even going off my own pro Bird bias. Steamer projects him for a 125 wRC+ with Agon at 106 and Lucroy at 109. Add in that Lucroy has less power and will play fewer games because he's a catcher and I think it's a pretty clear choice, though obviously Lucroy would be a catching upgrade for someone. E: and obviously I think 125 is light. Bird can hit the ball very hard and he has a great eye.

Bird is better than Agon and Lucroy...pretty easily. E: well perhaps too early to say "easily" better than Lucroy but I honestly can't believe the starting 1B for the Yankees who has a lot of power and hits left handed, primed to hit in the middle of the order is just sitting in FA. Eric Hosmer is owned tho, lol.

Martinez is pretty far down the list, though. Scherzer, Cueto, Bumgarner, Strasburg, Lester, etc. are all ahead of him talent wise. I thought he was the boldest pick. Anything can happen though, I suppose.

I think he honestly seems like a good dude who just wasn't fit or prepared to be president. Alex Jones had an interesting story on Joe Rogan's podcast about how stressed out Bush was during his presidency and just how meticulously all of his actions and movements are analyzed by pretty much everyone, including foreign nations.
