  1. Which realistically does f*** all for us
  2. Neither are the kind of innovators I want running the Blue Jays... On the flip side, Beeston is rock bottom. It doesn't get any worse than him.... Let's do this.
  3. Marlins and Rasmus trade happened almost instantly.
  4. Cargo's gotta be the target if it's COL
  5. Yeah and it's really not up for dispute.
  6. All I can say is wow, Alex made a really shrewd deal. My initial thought when I saw the proposed deal with Graveman and Lawrie was, "Which of Sanchez or Norris are going with them?". For the life of me I can't understand how there was meaningful trade discussion between Beane and Alex regarding Donaldson that didn't include Stroman, Sanchez, Norris or Hutchison. Also, does Oakland put any emphasis on club control? It sure as hell doesn't seem like it based on their recent run of form. I'm going to go hockey here for a minute and bring up the Phaneuf deal because this is exactly what it feels like. Calgary traded Phaneuf to Toronto because Toronto came calling and supposedly blew them away with the amount of players they were willing to include in the deal. Had Billy stepped back for a minute and talked with other teams regarding Donaldson, I don't think it's crazy to assume that by the end of the day Lawrie would've looked much less enticing as the centerpiece of the deal. Now on the flip side, if Donaldson becomes a weakened version of the guy we saw in Oakland, I sure as hell won't be surprised. That's usually what happens here in Toronto.
  7. Alex thinking he's buying low on Kendrick during his 6 win campaign makes way too much sense. Then you have the other side of it where Amaro thinks he's getting a much better prospect than what we're really prepared to give up. Kyle Kendrick will be our 5th starter during the August/September stretch run.
  8. Rogers hasn't done a single thing wrong in AA's tenure outside of allowing AA too much tenure. You think Alex's Blue Jays is responsible for the attendance, tv ratings and merchandise sales boosts? The way they've handled their coverage, television/radio and just generating a general buzz about the team has been admirable.
  9. Alex was failing, given a chance to prove he can evaluate talent, failed, given a chance to right the ship, failed. He'll be kicked out soon. Ownership sees what's happening, otherwise Alex would've traded for Chase Headley.
  10. Adding payroll doesn't = being involved in the race. We'd have to spend this money wisely, which we wouldn't.
  11. I don't understand this thread. The Jays have been nothing short of underwhelming and at times disastrous since this "2-3 year window" was created by Alex. The structure of the team is a poor and would be identified as exactly that by any objective baseball fan and to top it all off the team has already assembled a top 10 payroll in the league. If this wasn't going to cut it, adding ten million more surely won't either. You think the business people signing off on these decisions are telling themselves it's a good idea to add? We suck and will continue to suck until a new cycle of players and ideas come into the mix.
  12. Who in their right mind would sign off on investing MORE money into this roster? It's a stupid thing to do.
  13. I don't get why Cotillo is wrong to do what he's doing? Kid's a teenager trying to become a legitimate "insider" and he's using twitter to his advantage. If you guys want to start tweeting draftees about their contract details, go right ahead... He's working hard, good for him. It's not about the level of difficulty here or even the lack of "insider knowledge" (god forbid), it's the fact that he's doing it.
  14. Wtf, as of draft day 1 we were at risk of losing that pick should our pick not sign. Was everyone just misinformed?
  15. Quite honestly, this put a knot in my stomach. Horrible pitcher.
  16. I have to admit though, I bought into that run. We had Morosi on the fan every other day talking about who the national anthem singer will be for the playoffs, magazines talking about our all-world hitter, Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista developing leadership qualities. All while we were one big hitter (Juan) and one big pitcher (Hutchison) removed from falling apart.
  17. Honestly, Alex was on his last card in May of last year. If this team doesn't qualify, the entire front office will be gutted with the exception of the president, who seems to be able to get away with murder these days.
  18. It's really quite simple, both players want to sign. That's obvious, they were drafted high and have reasons as to why it benefits them. It's about the Jays being very firm with their stance on draftees and agents looking to maximize value. These two players will get every last cent that they can and the Jays will take their sweet time before giving in.
  19. As crazy as Alex is, he's not crazy enough to fire Gibbons in season. He knows that's a terrible look for himself.
  20. Look I'm not saying they won't sign. They have to sign. It's just going to take time for the Jays to finally give that extra 100k that will end up being so important to both sides. Also what a terrible use of that picture
  21. This inning suggests that Delabar is now the de facto "you're horrible, go out there and embarrass yourself" reliever on the squad.
