  1. I appreciate you wanting to let everyone express their opinions, and you're right about that. I guess it's not so much the original post that's a problem but more that these types of threads quickly become breeding grounds for the kinds of posters that ruined the old place. People speaking in absolutes and insulting anyone who challenges them is just annoying and destroys any chance at a healthy baseball discussion.
  2. Pathetic thread. I thought we were past this kind of useless BS when we came to this board?
  3. Pretty lousy GDT. I'm with gordiedougie on this one.
  4. Apparently it's been a lingering issue for about a month but they're just now doing something about it. Likely explains his terrible start.
  5. Wrist inflammation. Hoping it doesn't sideline him for long since I just traded for him in fantasy lol.
  6. Rockies just finished off the Yankees 2-0, so we gain a game on everyone except Baltimore tonight.
  7. Another great win. Nice offensive performance all around, and I'm especially happy to see Melky finally racking up some extra base hits. New board is 3-0. Still thinking about Happ though. Hopefully he'll be okay but that was damn frightening.
  8. Love the effort and enthusiasm you're puttting into these. However, you should put the lineups in larger text and closer to the top of the page, to draw more attention to them.
  9. So fatcow, how about that Yunel Escobar guy?
  10. The best part is that the Rays constantly do these annoying comebacks against us, so it feels great to turn the tables for once.
  11. Only saw the last couple innings of this game but man what a win. Also, 1300+ posts in our second ever GDT? Way to go guys!
  12. I'm sure they'll be on a short leash if they decide to pull their usual BS. The real test for this board is how it will handle a loss. So far we're 1-0!
  13. Gavin Floyd having TJS as expected, most likely out until mid-2014. Unfortunate timing for him as he's a free agent at the end of this season. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130506&content_id=46773568&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  14. Maybe they needed to hit around a bad pitcher to get the bats going, or maybe Saunders was just terrible and any lineup would have destroyed him. Like I said in yesterday's post game thread we always want to think that a good win is a sign of things to come, but really it's just one game and baseball is all about the big picture. It was a terrible homestand and now they really need to win at least 4 of the 7 games on this coming road trip, because getting stomped on by our division rivals like we have been so far just isn't going to cut it. No way this collective underachieving can continue though. It's just too ridiculous for pretty much every player on the roster (aside from relievers) to perform well below their career norms. Bautista and EE are still a dangerous 3-4 combo, it's too early to say that Melky is terrible because he's off PEDs or whatever, and most importantly, our pitchers aren't this terrible. I really believe this is a good rotation, and that includes Buehrle. Of course, we're in a tough spot with Reyes out and not coming back soon. Someone needs to actually go above and beyond, like Dickey regaining his ace form, or Lawrie living up to his star potential.
  15. An example of Lucas Duda's defense: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=26863173&c_id=mlb
  16. Orgfiller is the one you're thinking of, I believe. I saw him post a week or two ago but he didn't stick around. Too bad; I always enjoy the few new posters that actually have their heads on straight.
  17. Adrian Beltre walk off hit; Rangers sweep the Red Sox. Yankees lost too so we gained a game on both of them.
  18. And there, Carlos Pena gets a hit with one out in the 7th.
  19. I was going to mention it after the 7th inning. I figure no-hitting the Astros for 6 isn't much of an accomplishment.
  20. Astros getting pounded by the Tigers 8-0 after a 17-2 loss yesterday. Phil Humber shelled yet again, 4 IP, 8 ER
  21. +1 I watch the Rockies fairly often and I honestly think they are worse than ours. The constant use of first names and nicknames for the Rockies players gets irritating very quickly, and they make Pat Tabler look like an orator with how little they have to say.
  22. Might check in there once in a while to see if there are any decent posters to be recruited here. Honestly though, I doubt there be many good new posters showing up there anymore. People won't frequent a message board that doesn't have intelligent baseball discussion happening regularly.
  23. Nice to come through that was not just a "must-win", but a "should-win". Even with the lousy lineup (on paper) that Gibbons put out there today the pitching matchup heavily favoured us, plus getting swept at home is an extreme rarity, no matter the opponent. But while we're happy today, it doesn't erase the poor performances the team had in the homestand up to this point, as we still lost both series. Still, we always want to believe that every win is the start of something positive, particularly a lopsided one like today's. It's just part of being a fan. Great to see Melky finally find his power stroke with his first HR of the season, and of course getting unexpected contributions from guys like DeRosa is always nice, especially when the team's "good" hitters are struggling. Flying under the radar was Maicer Izturis with 3 solid hits. I know he hasn't been too popular but I think we can expect more performances like this from him. He's too good at making contact to keep hitting .200. Most satisfying performance of the day definitely goes to Brandon Morrow. Outside of the strangely wild 5th inning he was at his best, using his great fastball and slider to mow down the Mariners hitters. Can't ignore the bad inning of course but it was a relief to see him come back out with 3 more strong innings, rather than completely melting down as we've seen some times in the past.
  24. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Seemed like he was very willing to accommodate everyone but I guess he just didn't have much pull with the regulars.
