  1. Wow not bad at all! And he’s all character too, every team he leaves he’s had a positive impact in the clubhouse!
  2. Fired? WC? The team is s*** what are you talking about. Lots of old players past it on big contracts + Donaldson, Sanchez and Stroman. If they build a team that’s competitive maybe
  3. That was my first thought too until I read that he’s on his last year lol. It might be one of those jokes you tell with a purpose like “hey I only have one year guys, get brewing on an extension”
  4. Not sure if this was posted earlier somehere, but Gibbons was asked why fans should get a season ticket and he responded “jokingly” to “come watch John Gibbons’ last season managing the club”. Not sure if this is really a joke given that he’s entering his last year and there is no extension rumours. Could also be publically indicating that he would like an extension. How does everyone feel about this? I would love for Gibby to stay tbh, apart from making a bit of bonehead pitching changes he’s done really well. Especially at being a good people person and managing the egos in the team.
  5. Yanks get Stanton according to Jon Heyman confirmed also by Ken Rosenthal
  6. In 17 years they only got 2 post-season appearances. If Ash/Riccardi/AA stunk, then they were all hires of the same president, and they never got rid of him until it was too late. I think you're giving Rogers way too much of a pass. We can do worse now with whatever new owners come in it's true, but it's not like Rogers was "one of the best owners" in baseball for most of these past 17 years
  7. Eh, I'm not too sure about that statement. I mean sure, it's not like they weren't making money off the team. They had the TV rights and the naming rights of the stadium, didn't Rogers buy the Jays for like less than $200 million? That's not even one year's payroll. And while, sure, we've had our share of incompetent GMs who, when given the budget blew it all away - the blame is shared by everyone (Rogers included) for only having 2 playoff appearances in 17 years. For a market this big, no excuses for this. Beeston is great, what he's done for this org way back when was invaluable, but it's no secret that he was beyond his time in the past decade. Rogers kept here for far too long, with a market this big we should have had 2015 occur much earlier. With that being said, they've turned it around since 2012 putting more faith in AA, believing in the team in 2015 to approve Tulo and Price payroll hits, and hiring Shapiro - and I think 90% chance the next owners are a step down.
  8. This is a real strong possibility, just not right now! Amazon is already gearing to make a bid for some English Soccer broadcasting rights for their Prime TV service, in the next 5 years we could see Google and Amazon purchase rights away from TV companies, they are have more money than Comcast
  9. Not necessarily, didn’t we have hockey VR earlier in the year? With technology I feel MLB is light years ahead because it’s league with (I think) the most control over their broadcasts. Like Statcast and 60fps video streaming, if VR happens it would be the league who likely do it first and make it exclusive to their MLB.tv service. I have yet to use any sports-dedicated service that can hold a torch to MLB.tv With that being said, IMO VR is a very niche thing right now and I think it will only be profitable on a large scale like a VR public place rather than for home entertainment. Like 3D except the timeline is backwards going from home entertainment to dedicated spots
  10. Rogers and Bell are in bed together on a lot of things, they'll sell if they deem that's what it takes to improve their wireless and cable departments. I was listening to 590 this morning and Brunt brought up a good point, one of the reasons Rogers could be selling the team is because of how the internet is continuing to eat away at cable. And they have a point, the CRTC already made rulings a couple of years ago about bundling and they're going to continue to try and give Canadians more options, plus with MLB.tv subscriber rates increasing and Google and Amazon looking like they're prepping for a battle on live sports, who knows if cable will be as profitable as it is now.
  11. MLB has a say in fair market value for TV Deals I’m pretty sure. They probably won’t get a cut price unless they sell the team for cheap. That’s why I think the MLSE will probably be the way to go, Rogers are going to have to probably pay an astronomical price for the Jays given their success in TV ratings and Nation-wide reach
  12. Lmao, just as Rogers start spending $$$ they look to dip, f***ing *******s. Probably was told how much Donaldson was looking for and how much payroll we have with Tulo and Martin going forward and said F that. Whoever will buy the Jays will be a step down in terms of wealth. I wonder if the Dome is up for sale as part of the team too Maybe MLSE will buy and have a monopoly on Toronto sports. Then they can sell the naming rights of the Blue Jays to Bombardier or something and have half the games split on TSN and Sportsnet. Aren't they 50/50 owned between Rogers and Bell though? If Rogers are selling would MLSE even be an option? That would just be selling half to Bell
  13. Duquette: "We never made an offer because our fanbase don't like him"
  14. If the Giants land Otani I think Stanton approves the trade. Would be a nice team to watch
  15. F that, I want to see Stanton and Othani in AT&T far away from us. We're gonna have a team with the best legit homerun slugger since Bonds play a good % of his games in Coors matched with this pitching phenom who can apparently hit too. Also again, as far away from us as possible
  16. Hahahahaha they're mostly lame but I liked the one telling him to go lose 100 games with the Angels and M's lmao
  17. Very nice pickup for no cost!
  18. Can't say I'm surprised at all. On a side note - is it me, or has 2017 just been a constant barrage of news about sexual misconduct with famous/semi famous people? Russell Simmons was just outed by a female writer earlier today too
  19. Can we package him in a deal for Stanton tho
  20. I am so happy that everywhere I turn to - news sites, sports sites, social media everywhere, everyone has nothing but very positive things to say. It's not just the standard "RIP" and move on, you can tell how good of a person he was and how many people he's effected.
  21. Bob McCowan put it well, 'Sure you can make arguements for best pitcher in the history of the Jays, but he was easily the most likeable' Never heard anything but great words about the type of person he was
  22. Sorry for your loss, my condolences go to you and your family
  23. Ah man this sucks so much.... RIP Roy "Doc" Halladay thank you for all the good memories you will be missed
  24. Nooo!!! Not Halladay! f*** man he was so young!!!! Noooooo my idol
