  1. The reason why I don't take the side of a buy stance, is because I don't believe in overpaying for a push. I'm mostly a fan of selling and pushing windows of contention open to bigger spans. I'm a fan of moving vets making chunks of money for prospects with good/great potential and using the money saved on moving the vet to acquire a FA vet. I'm not a fan of riding guys contracts out like Rasmus, Janssen, etc....where they're lost to free agency or extended to retirement. And since Rogers appears to not want to have a payroll that compares with teams who have payrolls in the 160-200+ the Jays have to be more creative than pursuing big name, big money players. If you're not gonna have a payroll like the big teams, then don't pretend to try and spend with them. Develop and farm and use it to your advantage. I as a baseball fan don't build relationships with players where I can't fathom the thought of the Jays not trading them. Everyone should be on the table to be moved at any time, ensuring the deal is a win for the future and possibly the now as well.
  2. My bad, I forgot where I said we should offer up 2nd tier prospects.
  3. Any GM in any sport that says a player is untouchable should be fired.
  4. What about Josh Harrison from Pitt' as an option? 2B, 3B & OF experience.
  5. The Yanks can have him at that price.
  6. Level with me, who were you on the old board? You seem to have a bone to pick with me. And from my memory I've never conversed with you as I know this account as Convo.
  7. To make up for the raping we took on that 40 year old POS we took from them that everyone made excuses for.
  8. So if you want all the chips pushed in, you won't complain if things get lean for awhile will you?
  9. The Jays send Bautista to the Mets The Mets send David Wright, Steven Matz & Brandon Nimmo to the Jays. We get our 3B in Wright and slide Lawrie to 2B. Gose into Bautisa's slot in RF. The Mets get a cheaper star in return to soften the blow moving the face of the franchise but they have an option of extending Jose or getting out from under what he may garner in free agency. We get another young, stud SP in Matz and young exciting OF prospect along with Pompey to look forward to in Nimmo, at the expense of paying Wright handsomely for a bunch of years. Who says no? The Jays, the Mets, Wright, or everybody
  10. Wouldn't the Pads have to offer him close to 13/14m to get the Compensation pick? My guess with his age, time spent with the Pads & no other offers being close financially he'd re-sign and wipe out the Comp pick.
  11. And even then, there's no reason to even think about going down that road.
  12. I agree the Rangers are killed by injuries this year. But for the past 7+ years I've had to listen to the forum pull out the injury excuse card, every single year. I'm sorry, but before the year started the Jays didn't have a playoff team on paper. We didn't have a 2B, Navarro is weak, the bench is weak, the rotation wasn't a playoff worthy rotation.....but let's use the injury excuse why the Jays aren't going to make the playoffs......again.
  13. As long as I was on this forum and the other, there's always been a strong link to the Jays failure on injuries. I agree a couple of years the team was decimated by injuries, but sometimes people need to put the excuse in their back pocket. It's like the WBC excuse for last years failure, lame.
  14. There's easily pieces that could be sold for tremendous hauls and I wouldn't miss the player leaving. Bautista and Edwin included.
  15. If Samrdzija's playing time with the A's netted a top 10'ish prospect + a little then Bautista should easily net more than a Top 20 prospect. I agree with selling if the team isn't buying or contending. For petesakes start movingg old pieces.
  16. Re-tool? Why can't pieces be moved off individually and gradually?
  17. Hopefully its not a trade like the A's just made.
  18. Why have you waited for 3+ months to post this crap? The team had glaring holes before the season started, yet you rode the wave like the s*** fan you are and all the other idiots that need to keep their yaps shut.
  19. And every team has injuries, we can stop using that as a reason why the Jays don't make the playoffs.
  20. I'm glad my hopes weren't as high as yours.
  21. It's not that I'd never be willing to trade prospects, because at some point everything starts backing up.
  22. Come on Kev, Bautista is better than anyone all time and Edwin is 2nd best.
  23. 6th & 7th you say. My bad. Jose is Babe Ruth and Edwin is Lou Gehrig. I forgot it's a Jays forum and then sun never sets.
